4 months agoRude staff: I did my ‘scan and go’ shop there today. We were chosen for a check and Luke claimed single cream, he repeatedly called yogurt, wasn’t scanned. Luke insisted on scanning the rest of the shopping which there was no space for at scan and go till (6 bags). I asked to speak with the manager, as I wanted to go back to a normal till but Luke argued I couldn’t. The manager told me I can but asked whether I want to as it is very busy. I turned around and nearly every other till was available. At this point, I started looking for a hidden camera… We took our trolley to a normal till, paid exactly what we would pay if we used scan and go. Luke was by my side all the time, making sure I don’t steal the yogurt… The shop was well stocked.4 weeks agoLoved my shopping experience in here. Got a number of clothes on sales and the quality seems to be pretty good.a month ago0 stars if would be possible,i bought 3 6 packs of water and the girls scanned me 6 and i payed 15 £extra for nothing.probably not the first time when its happened.never gonna go there again,avoid3 weeks agoIts got a great selection of food but unfortunately doesn’t have the greatest of staff.2 weeks agoStaff are very helpful and always on hand. Can be expensive but that’s the price of convenience

a week agoIt’s as it says-express. You won’t find too much here. Mostly snacks and drinks and things you will need on the go. The cashier was quite pleasant.a year agoVery handy shop in this part of town. Has a small car park and is open long hours. Lots of fresh, chilled and frozen produce plus drinks, newspapers, cash machine and everything you’d expect in a mini supermarket. Please visit the charity shop next door to support the local hospice.a year agoI have just met the rudest Tesco employee ever. I walk to the till. The lady serving is dealing with a colleague so I wait. She finishes with her colleague and then begins to deal with a different customer who is behind me. I wait. I’ve now waited 3 minutes, I’m the 1st in the queue but still my presence has not been acknowledged. Finally I’m served I say to the lady “oh you can see me”. I’m then met with total ignorance no please no thank you. When I question her why she tells me I’m rude then as I leave the shop she shouts across the store. “Why don’t you just shut up” I turn and say to the security staff “wow how rude” I chose not to confront your rude employee and go home. Horrible.4 years agoWe just had an awful experience today with the manager of this shop. We rushed into the shop because my old dad who just had surgery a few days ago needed To use the bathroom urgently. The situation was both stressful and embarrassing for him but the manager would make no exceptions regarding insurance ! This lack of basic empathy and sense of community from that young man was just à shame… What kind or people are being hired in those shop ?? Lucky for us there was another supermarket nearby and the staff there completely understood the situation and let us access their bathroom despite their own concern for insurance.5 years agoClean, friendly staffed and well stocked. Does seem to be packed with older gents who flirt with the students and monopolise the cashier’s time leaving a considerable wait at the tills if you want to just pick up a pack of cigarettes.

Tesco in Colchester: Do’s and Don’ts Every Shopper Should Know
When shopping at Tesco, there are certain rules and guidelines that shoppers should follow in order to maintain a safe and enjoyable shopping experience for everyone. Let’s take a look at some important rules to keep in mind:
- Wear a face covering: It is mandatory to wear a face covering while shopping at Tesco, unless you are exempt for medical reasons. This helps to protect the health and safety of both customers and staff.
- Observe social distancing: Tesco has implemented social distancing measures, such as floor markings and signage, to ensure customers maintain a safe distance from each other. It is important to follow these guidelines to protect yourself and others.
- Follow the one-way systems: Tesco may have implemented one-way aisles to help maintain social distancing. It is important to follow these directional signs to prevent overcrowding and ensure a smooth shopping experience.
- Use contactless payment: Whenever possible, use contactless payment methods, such as cards or mobile payment apps, to minimize contact with surfaces and reduce the risk of transmission.
- Be patient and respectful: During these challenging times, it is important to be patient with staff and other shoppers. Follow any instructions or requests from Tesco employees and treat fellow shoppers with respect.
While it is equally important to be aware of the rules to follow, it is also helpful to know what not to do while shopping at Tesco:
- Do not remove your face covering: Unless you are in a designated area where face coverings are not required, it is important to always keep your face covering on to protect yourself and others.
- Do not ignore social distancing measures: It is crucial to follow the social distancing guidelines and not gather in large groups or get too close to other shoppers. Respect the space of others and maintain a safe distance.
- Do not panic buy: Panic buying leads to shortages and can create unnecessary stress for both staff and other shoppers. Be mindful of others and only purchase what you actually need.
- Do not touch items unnecessarily: Avoid touching or handling items that you don’t intend to purchase. This helps to minimize the spread of germs and reduces the need for staff to regularly sanitize products.
- Do not enter the store if feeling unwell: If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, it is best to stay at home and avoid entering Tesco to prevent the potential spread of the virus.

This is a big supermarket with lots of decent food at reasonable prices. Lots of students in the area so it’s nice to know they are well provided for. But my review is for the mobile phone booth in one corner of the store. The staff there were super helpful to me and v generous with their time. I am really low-tech and had a poor understanding of what a smart-phone is and does, how to use, what sort of contract options exist etc. I just knew I finally had to enter that world because I was really getting left behind (just for example, I travel for work a lot and some cities don’t bother with maps any more because they assume “everyone” can just use google maps on their phones…)
Anyway, the staff here really patiently showed me how they work, recommended a package for me (that is adjustable if my needs change), showed me a phone that is not too pricey and easy to get the hang off, showed me some of the basics about how to use the phone, pointed out some of the apps that I would probably benefit from, and told me to come back at any time if I had any questions.
They really knew the ropes, were good at explaining and – despite my numerous dumb questions — never once showed any condescension or bemusement that I needed some things explained twice.
Big thanks.
I have enjoyed shopping at this Tesco but this evening my customer experience has been ruined by rude lady who worked at customer service.
I came to return couple items but the lady in an angry voice just told me that she is closed but that was 5 min before her actuall closing time! Customer service usually closing at 9pm so not sure why she told me that she is closed when it was only 8.55pm! She should do her job properly that should be my advice and be nicer to people!
Still no bakery and fresh bread, it’s been weeks now, maybe months. You’re a large supermarket, Lidl can manage to do it why can’t you? Rent some temporary plant and oven, shuttle it from a nearby store. Very little imagination required to solve the issue Fresh, crusty bread was one of the three items I came in for.
Then there’s the ongoing shut 60% of the staffed tills but not increase the number of hand scanners and their chargers meaning their hassle for the remaining staff and customers not being able to get one. That’s been since before Christmas, the bread situation has prompted posting a review today.
First time I have visited this store, layout was different from other superstores so got a bit lost when looking for products. No ques at the tills, friendly till operator. Quite well stocked, no staff present to help.
What a joke off a store especially there home delivery…. Each week getting worse and worse and then now they don’t even bother to turn up nor ring you or nothing you have to do the chasing to be told the driver marked delivery as failed couldn’t deliver when I was at home, then a guy called Steve when I rung up customer services had attitude with me once he had spoken to the store well guess what Tesco’s your now lost a customer. Absolutely pathetic.
