A large Sainsburys with a decent sized car park, a bus stop, and a recycling facility.

It also features a mini Argos, a selection of clothing basics, housewares, and vaping products.

It’s a shame the store no longer has a cafe. But at least it stocks a small selection of hot baked goods.

There’s also a SmartShop facility so you can scan your own shopping as you go. Although it doesn’t seem to have taken off much.

I have used this shop since it was built and just lately it has gone down hill there’s not many staff and the management is pitiful. Stock is hit and miss I can guarantee at least 5 of my regular purchases aren’t available. But I will say the staff are very good. On the whole someone should sort out the management.

Been coming here for over a year at lots of different times and never had less than a 10 min wait to checkout. Chronically understaffed if you’re doing a family shop and have too much for the self scan.

Not sure where this in store promotion fits with the ‘Helping Everyone Eat Better’ mission? I shop here every week and have noticed that the queues for checkout are getting longer with staff seemlngly under more and more pressure. Staff at this store are always friendly and helpful.

I love this branch! You can find everything you are looking for, usually finds deals, and all the staff are lovely and friendly. There is a good carpark behind the store, but make sure you leave the Carpark by an hour!

Spotlessly clean and well laid out. Public loos checked regularly and well maintained. Upstairs cafe has rebranded as Starbucks and in store Argos is excellent. Rarely cross town to visit other supermarkets now.

We all live a fast-paced life these days, and sometimes you just need to slow down a bit. Which is why the Sainsbury’s Norwich store is proud to present to you; the slowest supermarket experience in Great Britain. Their exacting and highly trained staff are guaranteed to ensure only the most excruciatingly slow and tiresome service. Indeed, Sainsbury’s have invested in state-of-the-art subdermal orthopedic implants for their Norwich team reducing limb movement by a retail market leading 75%!

Come and see the famous David, often mistaken as a cobweb bejewelled mime stacking the shelves. When did he start? When will he finally finish? Nobody knows; but you can enjoy seeing him stack a half-finished shelf with furniture polish from the 1970’s. He’ll finish one day, we’re sure!

Or come see Susan on the tills. Meticulously trained to produce the slowest experience at a supermarket till that humanity has ever witnessed. Proficient and highly motivated to ask mind numbingly pointless questions to every single customer and needlessly express her favourite flavour of foods and drinks you are buying; verbosely and expressively declaring her views whilst gesticulating at length to emphasise her points. Need to go home to feed your children? Transport a human donor heart? Need to use the precious seconds and minutes of your life ticking away in a productive or creative way? She cares not a jot! Her sole purpose is to create the most unimaginable laboriously ponderous waste of your time as possible. And she’s damn good at it!

Not completely satisfied with how slow the experience is? Sainsbury’s Norwich guarantees an even slower experience next time by unleashing a small, crusty horde of pensioners delighted to while away the day discussing the comparative merits of different branded pâté style cat foods at the till.

Come and try the experience today! Friday at 5pm? The store full of busy commuters? They’ll ensure only the bare minimum number of tills are open and staffed purely by the slowest people imaginable who would make a one legged, molasses covered hungover sloth with chronic arthritis look lively. What’s that strange shifting beneath your feet you may wonder? Why that’s the Eurasian tectonic plate energetically making its way across the Atlantic. Where else can you experience that!?

Need to disappear for a while? Feel the need to skip the nappy changing and poonami stage of parenthood and mercifully skip straight to university graduation and fishing trips? Then come do a weekly shop at Sainsbury’s Norwich. Just, don’t forget your nail clippers because you’re going to need them.

Luckily the car park has a max 2 hour stay. Which is just about perfect if you’re popping in to buy a paper. Anything more and we’d suggest getting a season ticket for the Queens Road Car Park just around the corner.

In summary, why travel to Norway or Iceland to see the sprightly glaciers when you can come to Norwich? See the castle, grab a bite to eat at the market at one of the diverse and quirky food vendors and top it off with a visit to Sainsbury’s Norwich and witness true slowness. Achingly, tiringly, truly unbelievable, and utterly total moral sapping slowness.

When shopping at Sainsbury’s, there are certain rules and guidelines that shoppers should follow to ensure a pleasant and safe experience. Here are some important rules to keep in mind:

  • Face coverings: It is currently required to wear a face covering when entering and shopping at Sainsbury’s, unless you are exempt for medical reasons.
  • Social distancing: Shoppers should always maintain a safe distance of at least 2 meters from others while shopping and waiting in line.
  • One-way systems: Many Sainsbury’s stores have implemented one-way systems to help maintain social distancing. It is important to follow the directional arrows and signs to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and reduce contact with others.
  • Hand hygiene: Make use of the hand sanitizing stations provided throughout the store and wash your hands thoroughly when you get home.
  • Contactless payment: Opt for contactless payment methods, such as using a debit or credit card or smartphone, to minimize physical contact with surfaces.
  • Respect for others: Be considerate of other shoppers and staff members. Avoid unnecessary touching of products, keep your shopping trip as brief as possible, and do not hoard or panic-buy essential items.

While these guidelines are important to follow, there are also some rules that shoppers do not need to worry about at Sainsbury’s. For example:

  • Face shields: While face masks are mandatory, face shields are not required. However, you may choose to wear one as an additional protective measure.
  • Click and Collect or home delivery: Sainsbury’s offers convenient online options such as Click and Collect and home delivery, allowing you to shop safely and avoid queues if you prefer.
  • Bag size restrictions: Unlike some other supermarkets, Sainsbury’s does not have specific restrictions on the size of bags you can bring into the store. However, it is advisable to bring your own reusable bags as part of the effort to reduce plastic waste.

By following these rules and guidelines, shoppers can help contribute to a safe and efficient shopping experience at Sainsbury’s.

  1. Staff are very nice and helpful. The smart-shop is rubbish!.. I don’t get the point? We use this for our convenience but every time i check out. I always get this barcode. 7 times now consistently which every time it calls the attendant to rescan my items. By the way!. I never forgot to scan anything. NEVER!.. But it always give me this silly barcode which i never seen this happened to other customers. I bet you know know the feeling of getting stop. It’s disgusting and embarrassing!..i would like to escalate this matter..

  2. Breakfast was really good, staff friendly but the place is grubby, had to clean my knife and fork and that put me off. Also the toilets need a makeover/do up. Grubby. Overall though good food at good price.

  3. As a shop it’s set out ok. Don’t like pricing for example item £3 but if you have a card it’s £1.75 that just does not make any sense. We use smart shop as it’s supposed to be better and faster so why is it almost every time we go in we get stopped at checkout and have a dozen or so items checked ( never had one wrong) if you say something you get looked down apon by the stuck up staff member and told it’s random . Yep right.

  4. Superb clothes are absolutely fantastic and great prices too went in there for swim shorts and came out spending £190 on some shermazing items 6 t-shirts, 2 swim shorts, 4 tops for the wife and 2 pairs of shorts for me great quality and prices too.
Didn’t get a chance to shop for food but is always fantastic in there as shop their regular 😀

  5. GINI lady who work at the self check out was EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPOLITE. After I made a shopping and spent £170 I ‘ve asked her how much some products are ( 2 items) as on shelf the
tprice was unclear. After she checked the price, I told her will not purchase that 2 items and paid for the rest £170 shopping. Than she asked me to put the items back even I told her I can’t carry heavy stufff because of back operation.
At the end I put them my shelf back on the self and informed line manager for poor service and horrible experience
    had.
