Shopping at Sainsbury’s is a straightforward and convenient experience. Here is a simple guideline to help you navigate through your shopping trip:
- Make a shopping list before you go: Take a few minutes to write down the items you need so you can stay organized and focused while you shop.
- Choose your nearest Sainsbury’s store: Sainsbury’s has many locations, so pick the one that is most convenient for you.
- Plan your visit: Check the opening hours of the store and decide the best time to go. Consider shopping during off-peak hours to avoid crowds and long queues.
- Bring your own shopping bags: Sainsbury’s encourages customers to use their own reusable bags. It’s not only environmentally friendly but also helps reduce costs.
- Head to the entrance: Once you arrive at the store, locate the entrance and enter the shopping area.
- Grab a shopping cart or basket: Depending on the number of items you need to buy, choose a shopping cart or basket to carry your groceries.
Once you are inside the store, you can follow these steps:
- Start with essentials: Begin by locating the aisles that house the essential items you need, such as fruits, vegetables, bread, and dairy products. Sainsbury’s clearly labels their aisles, making it easy to find what you are looking for.
- Follow your shopping list: Refer to your shopping list to guide you through the store and make sure you don’t forget anything on your list.
- Compare prices and products: Take a moment to compare prices and read nutritional labels to ensure you are buying the best products for your needs and budget.
- Explore other sections: After ticking off the items on your shopping list, you can explore other parts of the store, such as the deli section or the bakery, to find additional items you may want to purchase.
- Proceed to the checkout: Once you have everything you need, head towards the checkout area. Sainsbury’s has multiple self-checkout machines, as well as staffed checkouts for your convenience.
- Pay for your groceries: Use cash, card, or contactless payment to complete your purchase.
- Collect your receipt and pack your groceries: Make sure to take your receipt and properly pack your groceries before leaving the store.
- Exit the store: Finally, exit the store and return your shopping cart if you used one.

My go-to for beach drinks. How cute are these little plastic glasses that can be then reused for garden parties or puddings dishes.
Another supermarket with declining standards. Some empty shelving remains empty of the designated products for weeks on end. Poor layout generally by comparison with other stores, even other Sainsbury’s. Poorly trained checkout staff with no initiative, who can’t deal quickly with any problems that arise or easily identify unlabeled products such as bakery items, and who fail to remove security tagging. Staff generally have the attitude that grocery shopping etc is a leisure activity without personal time constraints on the customer. How wrong they are; they need to develop a greater sense of urgency.
The recent introduction of a requirement to scan your receipt to activate and open the barriers so that you can exit the self checkout area is another example of an unnecessary and ill-considered management response to a supposed rise in shoplifting. I do not appreciate being treated like a potential criminal. That requirement will have no effect on shoplifting rates. Those who would argue that it is likely to keep prices down by reducing shoplifting need to provide evidence for that argument. The paraphernalia of self-checkouts is merely the triumph of marketing by the tech manufacturing companies.
Management at this store needs to improve.
Wow. Things seemed expensive this visit! Lots of stuff had moved so tricky to find things. Quite a good selection and variety but not my favourite place to pick up a bargain.
A big supermarket
Easy to find and good parking.
Always well stocked with helpful staff.
Good easy to find vegan sections.
Self scans and scan on phone available which is a real time saver.
Instore cafe and petrol station on site.
Always a good shopping trip.
Situated within retail park which includes many outlets that are all within a short walking distance.
Huge supermarket, lots of choices. But why is it such a mess inside and in the parking lot? The food on the shelves is not organized and the sitting area outside isn’t clean at all. Grabn a quick bite to eat, opted to go eat in the car as the outside tables and chairs were a mess.
