I found the customer toilets shut today. I am a lady with disability and I asked a member of the staff at this Tesco for the nearest toilet and he confirmed I had to walk to John Lewis to use a toilet. As a one off occurrence this would be acceptable, however my experience at this Tesco store is that the toilets are often shut. When will management realise the lack of facilities will drive shoppers to alternative stores

I have visited other Tescos stores around Essex and the UK and found this branch over the years has had problems in management. I used to see large cobwebs hanging down from the ceilings by the checkout, dirty shelving were the fruit and veg was displayed.

This all has improved but the self service machines they have there are disgustingly dirty and stains and crumbs of food and dust you can see on the sides of the weighing platform that have been there for literally years and there are only two working self service machines now that take cash and customers are squeezed in a cue for use of them.

I also had a member of staff shout at me for coming in the store using the wrong entrance gate a gate which was open where I could not even see the exit sign due to signage being on the gate itself. I was not happy as I was rudely spoken to like a child like I’d broken some sacred rule.

I do hope they get up to standard with other stores, maybe managers should swop with other stores to get better insight and working practices to benefit the customer experience, cause the way its looking folks are going elsewhere especially if they have cars. .I know I have been going elsewhere..apart from all that usually the staff are great and helpful.

5 star customer service. Im a pregnant lady who was bursting for the toilet and a lovely gentleman called Phil took me to the bathroom when the customer toilets were closed. Will definitely be using this as my main supermarket with brilliant staff like Phil 😊

Usually very happy with the service from inside the store. Always stocked up, and the staff are available throughout the store. However, there are 2 negative comments I must add. Firstly, even though it is not a deal breaker… but one of the security officers seems very unapproachable and not too friendly. Secondly, the car park is somewhat a joke when it’s the weekend or an event taking place in Chelmsford. It just took us 1.5 hours to exit the car park due to a lack of traffic management from Tesco. Once again… this doesn’t happen all the time, but unfortunately, when it does… it leaves a sour taste

I visited this store this morning, and found one member of staff to be so helpful and friendly, I wish I asked for his name. He helped me find some shorts for my partner. I would definitely come to this store again when in the area. Thank you to your lovely member of staff for helping me 😊

Was shocked and disgusted to see a member of staff working with her toddler today 23/08/22. When I asked the cashier if it was Bring a child to work day she told me she wasn’t in the mood and walked off when I approached her she continued to scream and shout at me. I was absolutely socked how very unprofessional

Some ales on the shelf getting hot which should be in the beer fridge. Stock is a lottery. Sometimes there’s stuff I want sometimes I walk out disappointed, buying nothing. Staff look tired and stressed.

  1. I got a parking fine from Horizon parking for overstaying at here. I went to the store explained my situation, they told me to bring the letter to deal which I did the next day. I didn’t hear anything from the store so I visited again to ask the outcome. The lady at the customer service was very disrespectful and said they can’t do anything, speak to Horizon park, not Tesco. Is it just like that Tesco? I am spending over £4000 every year on Tesco, my last year clubcard earning was 3500 points and you treat your customers like this? You are an amazing company Tesco, I hope you bankrupt as soon as possible.

  2. Andy Reply

Poor stock selection, lots of bare shelves, car park can be a nightmare, long and narrow aisles that get blocked regularly, poor customer service. Have seen “customer assistants” swear at people standing in the aisle, in their way, no “excuse me” or any semblance of manners. Asked one today for directions to a product, they rolled their eyes as I approached and sighed. Pretty pathetic standard of customer care, but that seems to be the norm everywhere these days.

  3. It was rubbish!
They have a load of meal deals but only half of the ingredients! Stir fry deal with but mix, sauce and noodles, but ran out of noodles. Pizza deal with pizza, side, and dip, but no dips. General meal deal with side main and desert, but with no sides! How ridiculous!

  4. I did my click & collect from here. The only reason I use tescos is because of Julie & Maxine who work in click & collect. They are great people and are a credit to Tescos. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t shop there.

  5. Awful experience, bought a cheap blender for 25 pounds and didn’t print a receipt. The security guard at the entrance marched over to me when he saw me leavr and wouldn’t let me leave until I showed a receipt and told me to go back in the store, who said they also couldn’t print me one out at this point.

He didn’t believe me when I tried to leave again, and blocked me leaving, forcing me back into the store again so he could come with me and argue with the cashier.

He then said he’d let me leave if he saw the purchase on my bloody bank statement. Absolute joke that I had to get out my phone and show him a record of my private bank transactions, after which he had the cheek to tell me I should print out a receipt next time. All of this over a 25 pound blender when it’s well known this store has an issue with people walking out with entire carts of electronics.

    Ridiculous.
