2 months agoI must admit, I was quite disappointed with my experience at the local Sainsbury’s at St Dunstans. While I usually have positive things to say in my reviews, this store had very little going for it. The only redeeming quality is that it stays open until 11 pm, which is helpful for those who work late or have busy schedules.Unfortunately, the store itself was quite dirty, and the self-checkout machines almost always had issues. Whether it was struggling to scan items or rejecting them outright, it made the already long process of shopping feel even more frustrating. To add to the chaos, the store always seemed to be understaffed, which made it hard to find someone to help with questions or concerns.
Even outside the store, things weren’t much better. The area surrounding the shop was also quite dirty and had an unpleasant odor.
Despite all this negativity, I will say that the store is in a convenient location, being close to the West station. But, if you have the option, I’d suggest going to a different Sainsbury’s for your shopping needs. Overall, my experience was not great, and I hope the store can work on improving its cleanliness, staffing, and checkout machines.

No managers to be found on the shopfloor at time I came in. Cages from delivery dotted around. Empty shelves.As I was leaving an Asian man in a suit came from somewhere. I assume he’s a manager? 10 months agoVery useful shop because open till 11 pm. All essential items available here. Sunday also opening till 11 and opening at 7 am every day.

2 weeks agoVery useful town-centre shop with helpful staff. It’s just a pity that Sainsbury does not offer the same prices here as in its big supermarkets.2 years agoStore and staff are great. But deliveries in the morning at 06:30 are a joke you make far to much noise dragging crates and 🛒 across cobblestone streets. If builders are not allow to start work until 07:30 why are you allowed to carry that sort of disturbance so early in the morning. New self-checkouts are a joke! You now have to scan your receipt to open the security gate. Many people have thrown away their receipt or thrown them in the bottom of their bags leading to endless delays and frustration. It’s now quicker to use the staffed tills. No other supermarket uses such a silly system. Will go to ASDA in future. A new Argos has just opened inside the store, see the photo.
Just popped in to grab some bits. They need staff, on tills, stacking shelves, cleaning. It’s ridiculous the ques and empty shelves, the mess. Customer service had 17 people in it’s line. I dumped my stuff and left as only 2 tills open and self service was another massive line. Really chaotic and untidy.
Large store on edge of city centre. Car park access not the best so keep a watch for it, narrow entrance. Dated layout in store but has everything you need. Don’t forget nectar card as so many prices are different without the card. Car park free for two hours which is useful as there is a Starbucks on site so not so much of a rush.
Lots of great ingredients for almost anything you want to cook. Friendly and helpful staff.
The shop itself was ok. The toilets were a disgrace. No loo roll, smelly dirty. The mother and baby facilities were just as bad.
