Another store that seems to be really affected by stock shortages. A lot of the fresh produce shelves were empty. And lack of eggs as seen elsewhere.

They have a really great selection of houseplants. Some you’d usually only find in a garden centre. However the staff clearly are not looking after them, some of the tropical plants are in the foyer outside which is too cold for them. And some were so dry they were half dead. Please water the plants!

On a positive note though the Asian food selection and selection of Taiwanese snacks and sauces was really good. Lots of things that usually would require a trip to the Asian supermarket. Great to see.

Also the car park was well organised. Trolleys require a pound coin to use so bring one if you need to use a trolley.

Nice wide aisles, so never feels crowded. Good choice of fruit, vegetables and fresh items. Also this store has a wide range of electrical goods, clothes, cards and toys/books. Lots of parking, free if spend £10 or over.

Had everything l needed, the time we went wasn’t busy. Didn’t wait long at till either, bonus. Only bad thing we had lattes in cafe, very expensive as we went for a better blend but didn’t think much to them at all.

I like this shop. Fresh products, good selection. Long opening hours let me buy some food after my 12hours shift. 4 stars(not 5) because of costumer service – always busy with talking each other

Used Argos side to collect a hair trimmer. Should imagine it’s easy enough in normal circumstances, but due to social distancing there’s not enough room for more than one person waiting for purchase to be brought out. This gives rise to ignorant people pushing in before their turn which happened to me….. staff should ask “who’s next?” to avoid this. Have to wait outside while they bring purchase out to you but then they are approaching within a metre or so of you. Needs a bit of organising.

Friendly staff and decent selection of products for a small shop, but let’s be honest all you ever need from these locals are bread and milk on a Sunday at 6pm

How to Shop Smart at Sainsbury’s Wakefield: A Quick Tutorial

Shopping at Sainsbury’s is a straightforward and enjoyable experience. Here are some simple guidelines to help you navigate through the store and make the most of your shopping trip:

1. Plan your shopping list: Before heading to Sainsbury’s, take a few minutes to write down the items you need to purchase. Organizing your list by sections (such as dairy, produce, or frozen foods) can help you save time while shopping.

2. Find your local Sainsbury’s: Use the Sainsbury’s website or app to locate the nearest store to your location. This will help you plan your journey and avoid any unnecessary detours.

3. Shop with your Nectar Card: If you have a Nectar Card, be sure to bring it along. This loyalty card allows you to collect points on your purchases, which can be redeemed for rewards or discounts in the future.

4. Grab a shopping cart or basket: Depending on the size of your shopping trip, choose a shopping cart or basket to comfortably carry your items. Sainsbury’s has a variety of options available for shoppers.

5. Shop the deals: Keep an eye out for the “Special Offers” section or displays throughout the store. Sainsbury’s regularly offers promotions and discounts on various products, allowing you to save money on your grocery bill.

6. Check for in-store services: Sainsbury’s often offers additional services within their stores, such as pharmacies, coffee shops, or hot food counters. Take advantage of these amenities if they are available.

7. Consider store brands: Sainsbury’s offers a range of store brands, which are generally less expensive than name brands. Don’t be afraid to give them a try – they often provide great quality at a lower price.

8. Be mindful of use-by dates: When selecting perishable items, always check the use-by dates. Choose options with the longest shelf life to ensure you have enough time to consume them before they expire.

9. Utilize self-checkout or express lanes: If you have a small number of items, consider using the self-checkout or express lanes. These can save you time when compared to waiting in line at the regular checkout counters.

10. Bring your own bags: Sainsbury’s, like many supermarkets, charges for plastic bags. Help reduce waste and save money by bringing your own reusable bags.

Using these guidelines, you’ll be well-prepared to shop efficiently at Sainsbury’s and make the most of your grocery shopping experience.

  • Plan your shopping list in advance
  • Find your local Sainsbury’s
  • Shop with your Nectar Card
  • Grab a shopping cart or basket
  • Shop the deals
  • Check for in-store services
  • Consider store brands
  • Be mindful of use-by dates
  • Utilize self-checkout or express lanes

  1. Huge Sainsbury’s based at the trinity shopping centre in central Wakefield. Has a large two story car park. 2.1m height limit. Do have to take a ticket however if you spend over £10 in Sainsbury’s they will scan the ticket so you get free parking for 2 hours.

Requires a pound coin to use a shopping trolley.

Inside is enormous, has a large Argos / habitat area with home goods and clothing. The houseplants section is similar to any other Sainsbury’s. Not anymore choice in the bigger store.

Grocery shopping wise this is probably the most well stocked supermarket we have used for a while, nothing was missing and we could get everything we needed.

Fantastic selection of all goods. And very quiet on a weekday evening.

  2. Typical supermarket. Quality food. I always think the fruit and veg is in the wrong place but the Store on Trinity Walk has clothing Homeware and everything else you would expect under one roof plus Argos inside. Parking is free for I think for an hour be sure to get your ticket validated and check it has. It’s painful to be stuck at the exit barrier. More so if you are alone.
Otherwise you pay at the pay stations near the store exit door and one hour that way is one pound currently.

  3. Regular weekly shop in this store. Always clean and well stocked. Good quality produce. I spend less in this store than I used to in the discount supermarkets. And it’s better quality. Staff are attentive and courteous

  4. Wow! This supermarket is massive!!!
Difficult to find certain produce as things are not where one would expect to find them.
Specsavery in doors, which I’ve used.
Habiat, Argos and Tu clothing included in your visit.
    Great venue
