I recently visited Surf’s Up car wash in Reno, NV, and while the car wash itself did an okay job, I encountered a few issues that left me feeling less than satisfied.
First, let’s talk about the positives. The actual car wash service provided was decent, and my vehicle came out looking reasonably clean. The equipment seemed to be functioning properly, and the wash process itself was satisfactory.
However, I was disappointed with the customer service experience. The attendant on duty was aggressive and rude, which put a damper on the overall visit. It’s important to have friendly and courteous staff members to create a positive atmosphere for customers.
Another drawback was the lack of towels for drying off the vehicle. This left me with a wet car, which was less than ideal. Additionally, the vending machine for towels only accepted cash, and unfortunately, the credit card processing was out of order. This limited my options for getting the necessary supplies to complete the car wash experience.
Overall, Surf’s Up car wash has the potential to provide a satisfactory wash, but improvements are needed in terms of customer service and amenities. Addressing the issues with the attendant’s behavior and ensuring the availability of towels and functional payment options would greatly enhance the customer experience.
By Clint W. (a month ago)Very good drive through car wash. These automated car washes are not the same quality as a hand car wash but given the value for the membership I think it’s good if you have a light colored vehicle. If you have an expensive or dark colored vehicle I would spend more on hand washing only.Occasionally the lines can be a little long and sometimes you don’t get the car wash level you are supposed to, hopefully these things can be improved.
By Garrick Louie (a month ago)Update to my experience.I just canceled my 2nd membership. When i looked at my seven week old navy blue, RAM 2500 in the sun, there are thousands of micro scratches in the clear coat. My truck has only been washed at Surfthru Carwash.
I enjoyed this carwash’s convienence but with $80K spent, I will return only to hand wash. There is no question that these radial shaped scratches happen at Surfthru. When i closed out my 1st membership associated with my $80K Audi Q7, the owner stated that their carwash does not scratch cars. I will bet him/her/they/them $80,000 USD that I am 100% correct and he is dead wrong. Ask the detailer who cost me $400 to buff out my damaged new truck.
fomer review.
We have two memberships and love the convenience. However, our 1 year old Audi Q7, $80K, has thousands of micro-scratches on the headlamps and the black gloss moldings on the B, C, and D pillars. I cannot continue to devalue my car’s worth while going to Surf Thru! My detail shop showed me the thousands of dollars of damage done. The only solution is a a new touchless wash or hand wash.By Barry von Steinen (8 months ago)Really decent car wash, good system/equipment, very good value. Plenty of parking and vacuums for wiping down and cleaning inside of car. Occassional mechanical problems and very young crew, but they generally try hard and do well.
Overall very good car wash.By Erick Nielsen (3 weeks ago)This Surf Thru car wash is ok. I get some hard water. The towel rollers worked most of the time, and when they work, I still get dead bugs and mud on my car. I’d recommend going to Sparks or Carson City Surf Thru instead.By Kyle Olson (a month ago)

was there this morning for the 20.00 car wash. got home only to see the front and hood had largely not been cleaned just light brush marks in the dirt. not worth driving back to Carson to deal withBy Gary Oberman (2 weeks ago)Does a good job for what it is. It seems like a lot of people leaving negative reviews are expecting a detailer level of cleanliness from a drive through car wash. This is a drive through car wash that cleans your car in a couple minutes, set your expectations appropriately. I like that they have an undercarriage option which is nice to get rid of the salt brine after snow. I have an old diesel truck which I’d like to keep as rust free as possible so the truck can live it’s whole life without the frame rusting out.By Mike McAllister (in the last week)This year, compared to last years review has seen some improvements. For what it is, it’s one the best car washes in town where you can wash your vehicle automatically. For $10, you can get the Express and leave your car spotless. However, one of the complaints I have for the more expensive options is the things they advertise. The tire shine is spotty, it’ll apply to some portions of the tire but not all. Same thing with the underbody wash, not sure if it does a thing. However, the inside of the car wash is a fun thing as there’s different colors and lights going off. Another positive is that the car wash has free vacuums and air blowers to use. The air blowers are pretty strong and you can use it to get some remaining water off your car. The vacuums as well have good suction and clean up well. Overall, this is a good car wash for the price!By Neva (a month ago)This Surf Thru car wash is good. I get quite a bit of hard water. The towel rollers worked good; sometimes my car gets scratches, but at least removed the dead bugs off my windshield.
The improvements are better
I like it better than the Sierra car wash.By Kyle Olson (a month ago)Don’t take your car here. The machine was only half working, as is evident from the photos. I noticed at least two of the soap dispensers trying to spit out soap but was so clogged it couldn’t even reach the car, and as you can see a good third or more of my vehicle wasn’t even touched.I tried to call them immediately afterwards, and got nothing but voicemail. I know I won’t be going back.
For reference, these photos were taken maybe an hour after getting the car wash, and I wish I had taken them while we were still in the parking lot.

It’s my favorite car wash ever. I’m a car enthusiast and have tried many washes. This place has quality upkeep! never had a problem in the last 4 years, spray options has a lot to offer including a dryer and wax option. The scrubber is always clean and in great condition. I highly recommend this place if you love your vehicle and enjoy that one on one time
The wave car wash is by far the best in all our Sierra Nevada region. You can bring your large vehicles RVs Trailers and they have several options for example the drive through soft touch” The Works” & the soft touch 7$ wash are our personal favorite and we’ve tried all of them! Clean, affordable and never extremely busy even during summer hours it is 10 wait at the most.
Great place to get your vehicle washed. I bought a wash card and depending on the amount of money you put on the card, you get extra free washes. I use the auto car wash and it does a good job getting my pickup clean. They have numerous car washes located around the city too.
Always liked this car wash but the old man attendant is rude. He yelled at me for washing the bed of my truck out. There was nothing major in there, just some seeds from a tree in my yard. He said I can’t wash my bed there. There’s no signs posted about this. The signs says no excessive mud and no grease. The bed has none of that. Overall good carwash but that old man’s needs a talking to or fired. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
We used the car wash where you stay in your car and run it through. It was the max for $12.00 and worked exceedingly well. I definitely recommend it and will be going back
