Wow – this company is big time evil. They have utterly destroyed the U.S. housing market with their pump-and-dump “Zestimization” of neighborhoods.

I just bought a virtually uninhabitable $535,000 house in a neighborhood where Zillow (and similar conglomerates, like RedFin) had recently bought up a number of homes. There was no way to negotiate for a fair price with any real estate agent, and all homes on the market were being priced and sold in lockstep. Once I finally managed to bid my way into my (again, very expensive, basically rotting) home, I found the local public school district was a farce without any real administration or teachers.

I’ve now spent $130,000 cash (and entered into a HUGE 30-year mortgage) to move into a home with a “Zestimated” price of $555,000 that is clearly a piece of trash in a non-existent school district.

I am a victim of Zillow’s pump-and-dump real estate sale tactics, and I hope that the DOJ or a similar agency will hold this company accountable

Mike and his team, from Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp were so helpful and friendly. We will be referring them to anyone who is looking to buy to sale. We will definitely work with them again when the times comes.

Rental Listings – Allow Property Owners to Engage in Bait and Switch

What a racket! So, Zillow sucks all the options available for listing properties – they have a monopoly through their various apps. You HAVE to use them.

Their listings are useless. The apartments listed always seem to be “just rented” when you are lucky enough to get a hold of a Property Manager, and the Property Manager blames Zillow to “technical glitches” for not updating their website.

This company is nothing more than “churn and burn”. It’s a Ponzi scam!

I used this service as a landlord several years ago very successfully. Upon a vacancy opening I returned to what had worked previously. Only this time the service was not free for the landlord. I thought well that’s okay, no adds, no fuss or fluff, it will be worth the cost.

Then I received a completed application. I wanted to open it. I had do read the terms of service. Click agree to see the terms and agree again at the bottom of a LONG list of definitions, requirements and acceptance to a credit check myself, along with email, AND a good phone number.

So not only am I financing their enterprising endeavorsin real estate, I am financing their ability to spam me with calls and emails about my cars extendes warranty!

Unacceptable! I will be removing my listing from them and closing my account.

I will transfer everything over to Apartments.com. If I am going to have my financial and contact information sold to at best unwanted salesmen, worst shady salesmen, I don’t want to pay for it.

    Sincerely,

    Lee

Zillow should NOT offer consumers the option of directly listing their homes as Zillow primarily exists to service only real estate professionals. We wasted a great deal of time directly listing our home on Zillow during an overheated seller’s market in our area. The information posted by Zillow was untimely and often incorrect. To this day, Zillow indicates that our house sold for $40,000 MORE than its actual sales price, based on information that was NOT submitted by us. Obviously the company does not do any quality control. After numerous attempts of entering our contact information as sellers, many prospective buyers and their agents complained that they could not reach us without appearing at our door in person, a huge inconvenience. The listing was inexplicably delayed for a very critical week without an explanation. There was nearly no communication with Zillow employees. The only attempt at communication by a Zillow employee was a lame email that apologized for “systems problems”. To this day, when I access Zillow for real estate information, the map function, which is critical to my needs, does not function properly or doesn’t function at all.
