The Cost of Hand Car Washes in the US

Here is a table of the average cost of hand car washes in the US by size of car:

Size of Car Basic Wash Comprehensive Wash
Small car $15 – $25 $25 – $35
Medium car $20 – $35 $35 – $45
Large car $25 – $50 $50 – $60

As you can see, the cost of a hand car wash can vary depending on the size of your car and the level of detail you want. However, the table provides a good starting point for estimating the cost of a hand car wash in your area. Here are some additional factors that can affect the cost of a hand car wash:

  • The location of the car wash: Car washes in urban areas will typically cost more than car washes in rural areas.
  • The time of day you get your car washed: Car washes are typically more expensive during peak hours, such as weekends and evenings.

If you are looking for a more affordable option, you can consider doing a self-service car wash. Self-service car washes typically cost around $5 – $10, and you can wash your car as often as you like. However, self-service car washes can be time-consuming, and you may not get the same level of detail as you would with a hand car wash.

Ultimately, the best way to find out the cost of a hand car wash in your area is to call around to different car washes and get quotes. You can also use online resources, such as Yelp or Google Maps, to compare prices.

The cleaning wasnt that good. There were a decent amount of bits/specks of dirt at the bottom of the car. But the car wash only costed 10 dollars, which I would say is on the cheaper side, so I was kinda getting ready for something like this to happen. If you have a super dirty car, and are just trying to get it cleaned, this is a good place to go to.

Sketchy credit card swipe so bring your quarters or five dollar bills: on the plus side, the change machine dispenses quarters and not tokens.

Stay alert to the call elapsed time since there’s no countdown warning no ability to extend the rinsing time with extra change

The system changes me 12 dollars but never activated the car wash.
I had to pay once again! Also, the quality of the wash is pretty poor. Look at the picture, my car wasn’t that dirty yet the car wash couldn’t clean it’s back whatsoever.

Fast, automatic, and not expensive (10-15 dollars per wash). Very happy with the experience

Been using SV Express for years. It’s a good service for the price. While it’s not like taking it to a full service wash, it does the job on the exterior quite well and I recently had a glitch where payment was accepted but the sensors wouldn’t let me go through. Emailed the owner and he promptly got back to me with an entry code that worked. Good customer service.

Update May 18th 2023: the business was sold recently and the equipment seems to be running better. More water pressure, more soap and a better rinse. Prices are up a little but glad to pay a bit more for the improvements.

My friend had her headlights restored and car waxed and detailed. Brian was our point of contact and provided outstanding customer service and is a personable guy. Headlights look like new and the car was spotless and shining. Would strongly recommend as well as I will be returning myself. There is also a do it yourself service onsite with car washing bays. A modern car wash with the dry your car option via hand dryer.

Pretty cool car wash, however sometimes the machine eats your coins. The employees are nice enough to replace them when they are open. Some stations need a service on the air dryer as some blow harder than others. Overall pretty great car wash

great place if you want hand wash your car with self service pump. The machine takes credit card and cash. The facility is well maintained and next to detail plus professional shop where you can have your car detailed.

Great place to do a self wash, tried the first time, good water & air pressure, had a soap brush, not too bad, don’t use that brush hard, may cause micro scratches, the controls could be a little confusing at first.
Ex: there is soap spray, would almost look like water, but actually a bit of soap mixed and there is a water only spray mode separately.

So, just like in any gas station, choose ur lane, park ur car, get the coins from the vending machine, insert ( min 5 coins, $1=1coin=1 min). Trick #1: Insert additional coins before your time ends to get some additional seconds. If you miss, it’s ok, u ll start from 0, no big deal.

Also, has air blower & vacuum, pretty decent power.
Tip #2: For forced air, use the air & vacuum locations, u get more time per coin compared to the general wash area.

Mathew, the manager of this place, is a great guy, very helpful. Reach out to him, if you want the professionals to do it, they have exterior n interior detailing packages.

Finally, take your microfibers or mittens, car shampoo & a bucket ( if possible ), to wash by hand if you don’t want to use the soap brush.

Bottom line: if you are one who prefers to wash your car yourself, this is a good place.

Today I pulled up and I’m like man… This place is crazy packed. There were like 6 or 7 cars in the parking lot around the entrance. Then I noticed no one was in them. All the bays were taken but I was 2nd in line at my bay. As I’m looking around, I notice this guy has a bucket and hand washing this car. Looking further more into this, I also noticed that all those cars are for the detail shop in the back. They had like 5 in the back they were working on. I have been to many self service car washes. They all say no bucket washing if there is a line. The place was packed already with people waiting and these people crowd it more with all these cars they are cleaning. It’s not even a quick wash. It’s door jambs, engine bay, then hand washing… That’s how long I was in line for. I seen all this. It’s a Saturday.. people want to wash their cars too. If y’all gonna do all that, do it on a weekday or block off one bay for y’all to use. This is ridiculous. Only reason that bumps it up to a 2 star is the power washing wand isn’t the fat plastic style like the other places.

  1. A reasonable but not outstanding $35 car wash and detail.

For a flat fee of $35, you get an exterior car wash, interior vacuum and a little bit of details afterwards. I’ve had many services better for the same or cheaper price in the past, which is why I was a tad disappointed..

Everything was okay but nothing was great. I had to explicitly go back and ask them to vacuum the garage and a lot of the corners which remained uncleaned. I felt uncomfortable asking for so many extra things, but the shop accepted my requests with respect and care which is the most I could ask for.

Other than that, the location is welcoming and easy to find, the staff is friendly and the service was relatively quick.

  2. I’ve been here twice. The first time some magnets fell off my car into the car wash and the team was stopping the car wash and looking for them. They weren’t able to find it at the moment, but in the evening found it when they shut their system down. I got a call the next day to pick ‘em up.

The team here has been nothing but exceptional. I like to get the full service for $40. It’s definitely worth it. All cloth drying. It takes a bit longer, but we’ll worth it.

  3. Its not at all worth for $39.I took the interior and exterior cleaning service. The exterior machine wash is okay but they didn’t even looked in to the trunk while cleaning. Just see some very good service with in a mile radius.

  4. Good quick car wash in a convenient location and affordable prices. You can get a full inside and outside car wash for around $35. The car wash is brushless but does have machines at first. They will hand dry the car, though. Total time spent here was around 30 minutes.

You can also get a hand wax here for around $120. I found that the quality of the car wash was okay to decent. Definitely a good price and saves you time over doing it yourself. If you want the car to be absolutely spotless, you’ll likely need to spend more or get it detailed.

Recommend this spot for a good car wash at good price if you’re short on time.

  5. Horrible service! The car wasn’t clean with spots on the windshield and front of the car. When I pointed out the same, the coordinator made a face but tried to get someone to clean it. Since everyone was busy, he cleaned himself very quickly and said done. The car was still not clean with leftover marks but when I said that he got angry and remarked “more clean?!”. He walked away but came back in a few minutes, used his cloth one more time and said something in his language which I didn’t understand but he was clearly very angry. There was nobody there who I could complain to so I simply left. Paid $43 for a full service but this was barely a proper exterior car wash and I had a bad experience.
