Key Factors for the Best Gyms for Families

When considering the best gyms for families, there are several factors to keep in mind. Here are key aspects that make a gym family-friendly:

  1. Family-Focused Programs: The best gyms for families often offer programs and activities that cater to all age groups, from children to adults. Look for gyms that provide family fitness classes, parent-child workouts, or specialized activities designed for kids, such as sports leagues or swimming lessons.
  2. Childcare Services: A family-friendly gym should have reliable and safe childcare services available on-site. This allows parents to work out while their children are supervised by trained staff in a stimulating and secure environment.
  3. Family Memberships: Gyms that offer affordable and flexible family membership options make it easier for the whole family to join and participate. Look for gyms that provide discounted rates or customized membership packages for families to encourage everyone’s involvement.
  4. Variety of Fitness Options: The best gyms for families provide a wide range of fitness options to accommodate different interests and fitness levels. This may include cardio equipment, strength training areas, group fitness classes, swimming pools, indoor or outdoor sports facilities, and even recreational activities like rock climbing or trampolining.
  5. Kid-Friendly Amenities: Family-friendly gyms often have amenities that cater to children’s needs. This may include dedicated play areas, kids’ fitness equipment, family changing rooms, or accessible restroom facilities. These features create a welcoming environment for families with young children.
  6. Educational Programs: Gyms that offer educational programs related to health, nutrition, and overall wellness can benefit families. Look for gyms that provide workshops, seminars, or resources on topics like healthy eating, child development, or family-oriented fitness tips.
  7. Safe and Clean Environment: Maintaining a safe and clean environment is crucial for family-oriented gyms. This includes regular equipment maintenance, adequate safety measures, proper sanitation practices, and attentive staff to ensure the well-being of all family members.
  8. Family Events and Activities: Engaging families through special events and activities helps create a sense of community within the gym. Look for gyms that organize family-friendly events like fitness challenges, holiday-themed activities, or outdoor picnics to foster social connections among families.
  9. Convenient Hours and Locations: Family-friendly gyms should have convenient operating hours and accessible locations. This allows family members to fit workouts into their schedules more easily, making it feasible for everyone to participate in fitness activities.
  10. Positive Reviews and Testimonials: Before choosing a gym for your family, consider reading reviews or testimonials from other families who are members. Their experiences can provide valuable insights into the gym’s family-friendly atmosphere, services, and overall suitability.

Remember, the best gym for families will depend on individual preferences, the specific needs of your family members, and your budget. It’s important to visit potential gyms, ask for trial memberships or tours, and assess how well they align with your family’s requirements before making a decision.

I like they have hydromassage. is a big gym. but way too many treadmills and ellipticals no one uses. only a few stairmasters and they usually full or broken. the weight area is too small compared to all the empty cardio stuff. very poorly planned gym. no bench presses etc.

I absolutely love the location. Very clean and everything is at your disposal. Cardio machines and weight area is awesome. Great additions when you get the black card, such as the tanning and the massage beds.

Worse one I’ve been to. First of all the parking lot is like going to a third world country. The pot holes are ridiculous. Went there first with my big truck and it was bumpy then today with my small car, thought I was going to get damaged to it and i almost tripped on uneven pavement then when I got close it was misting and you can smell the urine on the sidewalk and it looked filthy! Get inside and it looked ok but the bathroom was a miss and even if they did picked up the paper you can tell the stall has not had a good wipe down in a long time. There was someone sweeping when I finally left. I would have to be totally desperate to workout at that place again. I’ve only been to two other locations lakeside and Eastlake and they were fine.

Honestly this is one of the worst gyms I been to due to the fact that there is no structure or discipline with staff In charged of the gym also not to mention that there is a bunch of little kids that go there to talk and horse play there for interfering with the members that actually take the gym life serious…. hygiene wise it’s a mess I do hope that staff step it up and make this a better environment

No Planet Fitness will get a good review bc I still haven’t gotten an answer.

$25.05×12=$300.60 for a membership. That’s a lot but OK. What I want to know how exactly an extra payment of $39 annually on top of my membership keeps my account running smoothly without unnecessary paperwork?

It definitely doesn’t cover if dues are late bc planet fitness charges and additional fee for that also.

For a company with a $587m+ revenue. It feels like PF is taking advantage of people by padding their pockets even more just bc they can.

Employees are nice. Even tho I’m willing to bet money they aren’t paid a livable wage.

I don’t know where these good reviews are coming from. These people must’ve never been to a decent gym. Don’t let the pretty building fool you. It’s straight out of the early 2000’s. The weight room and cardio floor is cramped. TINY. It’s crowded and every bench and machine is taken. Good luck getting in a decent workout. I’m so saddened as I just moved here, now I will be looking to leave LA Fitness. I refuse to let this be my new home gym 😭

Very nice and new-looking location. Sauna is small/medium sized but gets wifi (and all through the locker rooms.) Treadmills on the second floor overlooking the machines, and also a wall of tvs, which makes for a less boring workout. Big, open floor plan, which feels nice and expansive.

Unprofessional gym that takes no accountability in what goes on in there. Multiple people have been stealing phones and personal belongings and staff does the bare minimum about it. Weeks go by and they act like they don’t know what you’re talking about when you ask for updates. Staff is lazy and nonchalant about any issues brought to them. Not the cleanest gym either. Won’t be going to this location anymore and wouldn’t recommend anyone else going either. Save your time and money.

I’m really enjoying my time at this gym. This gym is always being cleaned by the custodians which is of big importance to me. I have a personal trainer, Sammy. She’s very knowledgeable and encouraging with the workouts. She’s fair and understanding too. She gives helpful nutrition and fitness tips and easy to talk with. The challenging thing is sometimes it could get crowded and there’s not enough equipment for everyone.

I love this location. I have been to 3 of the locations and this one has been my favorite. My wife signed me up for a personal trainer and every time I started with a trainer at the other locations they would be flaky.
When I started at this location I had a ton of training sessions left because of the other trainers cancelling appointments. I expressed my frustration with the scheduler and she set me up to work with Sammy.
Sammy is very consistent and good to work with. Sammy makes sure I am working towards my goals every session.
    5 stars for the trainer.
My only issue with this facility is there are always a lot of people in the training area without trainers. I wish they would really do more to keep this area clear.
Maybe adding a similar area outside the training area.
Other than that my trainer Sammy has been great.

  1. I’ve been a member at this gym since early 2017, 6+ years. I’ve created a lot of friendships outside of the gym with the staff members from 2017-2021. The Jungle Bar setup outside, when the gym was opened for 24 hours, when the sauna &’ steam room were opened all the time with no issues, these are the reasons I kept my membership.

Fast forward 2022 to now March 12, 2023, the gym is not the same. They removed the jungle gym, they are no longer open for 24 hours, they had recently installed a brand new system for the Steam room after the steam room was down for 1 year, &’ yet every other week or less there’s a sign posted, “Sorry for the inconvenience, Steam room is down.” The sauna’s are not even to temp, staff members are younger with little to no customer service experience &’ more attitude. Multiple machines being down for weeks &’ it just seems like they’re just putting a, “Machine pulled a hammy,” sign &’ forgetting about it.

Back then when it would rain, the outside gym would be closed &’ if it was sunny the next day they would open it immediately that morning. Now? If it rained one day, the outside would be closed for 2+ days on a clear blue sunny day &’ I’m assuming it’s because the staff needs to move all the equipment from the inside, back outside &’ they’re lazy to do it the following day so they just wait until the next time it rains to use it as an excuse as to why the outside has been closed.

I give it 2 stars because they got rid of the jungle gym, they got rid of being open 24 hours which was one of the main reasons I signed up in the beginning, their machines are consistently broken, Sauna &’ Steam are in maintenance 90% of the time, Staff has attitude, &’ I’m sure more issues will arise in the future.

Oh, &’ Ron should be the General Manager if he hasn’t already been recommended for the position. Such an amazing, down to earth, helpful, &’ selfless employee. Ron should be recommended for Employee of the Decade for his professionalism &’ continued dedicated customer service to all the members at Chuze since I first signed up. Definitely has the characteristics &’ morals of a Leader. Probably one of the only good things about this gym is having Ron around. GG’s.

  2. I Love Chuze! is the best gym, with the best services, the classes are fantastic. The locations are very convenient, the staff is always friendly and very helpful. The most complete gym and ever, with the very budget friendly prices. The only thing I wish is, the classes schedule would be extended for those who work early and need to get the HIIT workout kicked out before 9am. overall, I prefer Chuze over any other gym in Sab Diego.

  3. Great gym. Nice people. Worth the money!
But don’t use the treadmills. They’re loud, clunky, and I’ve slipped several times on them. I’ll change this if that issue gets resolved, but that’s really annoying that I have to pick the same 2 treadmills in a gym or 35 or so because I’m scared that I’ll slip and fall or the machine will suddenly stop and fling me forward. Other than that, zero complaints, and I’ve been here for 2 years counting.

  4. Good overall gym. Only thing I dislike is the shoving of pride month in my face when I walk in. I respect what it is but it is also Men’s awareness month and I see NOTHING supporting men. Supposedly Chuze supports everyone equal but I dont see nothing equal about this.

  5. Very clean gym. I always see workers cleaning and taking care of guests. The kids club is also really great and the girls there are really welcoming to the kids. My I my complaint would be the sauna. It stinks in there and it’s not hot enough. It needs to get fixed.
