The Essential Factors for Choosing Norfolk VA Best Gym for Weight Loss

When determining the best gyms for weight loss in Norfolk VA, there are several factors to consider. Here are some key aspects to look for:

  1. Qualified Trainers: A top-notch gym should have certified personal trainers who can provide guidance and create personalized workout plans tailored to your weight loss goals. Trainers can offer expertise, help with proper form, and motivate you throughout your fitness journey.
  2. Variety of Equipment: Look for a gym that offers a wide range of equipment for both cardio exercises and strength training. This should include treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, rowing machines, weightlifting machines, and a selection of free weights. The availability of diverse equipment allows for a well-rounded workout routine.
  3. Group Fitness Classes: Gyms that provide group fitness classes can be highly beneficial for weight loss. Look for classes such as high-intensity interval training (HIIT), aerobics, spinning, kickboxing, or dance-based workouts. Group classes provide structure, motivation, and a social atmosphere.
  4. Cardiovascular Training Options: Effective weight loss often requires a significant amount of cardiovascular exercise. A good gym should offer various options for cardio training, such as treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, and indoor cycling bikes. Access to these machines allows you to engage in effective calorie-burning workouts.
  5. Strength Training Facilities: Building lean muscle mass is crucial for weight loss as it boosts metabolism and enhances fat burning. The gym you choose should have a designated area for strength training, including a wide selection of weights, resistance machines, and functional training equipment like kettlebells and medicine balls.
  6. Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities: A clean and well-maintained gym is important for your comfort and safety. Look for a gym that takes pride in cleanliness, regularly maintains its equipment, and provides a pleasant workout environment.
  7. Supportive Community: Joining a gym with a supportive and inclusive community in Norfolk VA area can significantly enhance your weight loss journey. Positive interactions, friendly staff, and opportunities for group activities or challenges can keep you motivated and accountable.
  8. Nutritional Guidance: While not all gyms offer this, some provide nutritional guidance or have registered dietitians available to offer advice on healthy eating and weight loss strategies. This additional support can be valuable in achieving your weight loss goals.
  9. Convenient Location and Hours: Choose a gym that is conveniently located near your home or workplace, making it easier for you to incorporate regular workouts into your schedule. Additionally, consider the gym’s operating hours to ensure they align with your availability.

Remember, the best gym for weight loss in Norfolk VA ultimately depends on your personal preferences, goals, and budget. Take the time to visit potential gyms, ask for trial memberships or tours, and assess how well they meet your specific needs before making a commitment.

Not your biggest Planet Fitness around, yet certainly one of the easiest in-and-out unencumbered workout offerings available! The added low-cost sweet deal gives you no excuses not to go break a good sweat today, right now, in Norfolk! 💥

Quieter atmosphere than many Planet Fitness gyms I’ve busted through. Ubiquitous tv’s and cool music vibes, as with all locations. Machines are clean, organized, and all operating — per my quick-view throughout.

Locker room bright & clean (men’s) with an old-school scale right there as you walk in. And why not? This gym is here to help YOU get the results YOU know YOU want!

What’s stopping you then, eh?! 👍👍🏾👍🏿

Although I’ve had my membership for a few years now , I had decided it was time to get back in the gym and to be my own motivator. The building and bathrooms were clean and the service was great. An employee named Benjamin assisted me and was able to answer all my questions. His mannerism and customer service skills not only made my day, but by just conversing with me made me feel seen as a person and appreciated. 5 Stars from me PF !

I’ve been coming to this gym for 3yrs now going 4 and since the end of 2022 this gym feels like a walking sauna. There is no reason a room of sweaty people with no windows should be even the slightest warm. The WHOLE GYM feels suffocating it’s rather upsetting bc I look forward to working out not a heat stroke.

Tried to call, got an attitude about the cleanliness of the mens locker room. Its horrid. Disgusting wouldn’t even be the word. Tonight when i went in there it smelled like beer/urine, and low and behold a spot on the floor. Theres always hair or bandaids or something stuck to the walls. Same beard hair on the shower wall 2 days in a row. Back of the shower curtains are moldy, one bathroom stall didnt have a door on it for a few days. I pay money for this? I live far away and when i leave work i like to shower after my workout at the gym. Theres so much filth in the bathroom of the locker room it feels like a homeless camp. DO BETTER PLANET FITNESS, i can easily find another franchise to call home.

Customer service SUCKS at this location. The red head always has a rude attitude, no problem solving or communication skills. And two other employees are in the front flirting if you ask for help they get an attitude. I will be writing a detailed complaint to the district manager.

Honestly anyone rating the actual facilities below average needs to get their head checked. This place is freaking great, super clean, good airflow, an abundance of equipment and reasonable hours & SUPER reasonable membership price considering the access to classes as well. I’m new to town and explored basically every option in Norfolk for exercise and this is by far the best value. I was actually appalled by the Anytime Fitness in the area (yikes) that was charging $50-70 a month for an outdated, hot, carpeted, old gym experience. Orange Theory and Pure Barre are nice but super expensive.

the gym is overcrowded no matter what day or time you go, for 3 floors, it’s a pretty generic gym. i went for a couple months, then stopped going and figured i could just cancel my membership. but no it doesn’t work like that. please be mindful of the contract you are reading! you are locked in for a year paying 39.99/month for a basic experience. and once your yearly contract is up, you roll right into a month to month contract. with no notice. so it’s on you to make sure you are reading between the lines. and understanding completely what you’re signing up for. it’s overpriced in my eyes and to break your contract it’s a big deal in itself. in order for me to stop paying for my membership, AFTER MY CONTRACT WAS UP AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE MONTH-TO-MONTH, due to my pregnancy i had to submit proof..it felt a little invasive but i guess that’s how they operate. very difficult to find parking too without the risk of getting towed. a lot of information in your contract isn’t disclosed with you, very basic gym, overpriced, just not for me. i would recommend planet fitness or iron asylum honestly.

Oneife fitness in Norfolk is my spot. It’s convenient and they have every thing that I need froon equipment to healthy supplements and the staff to assist you with either. I like that they have three floors to choose from and a variety of program options. Mostly I like that when ever I complete a survey.some one responds to me promptly regarding any issues I may have. Thats great customer service, however, the can be deceptive. The have a table with swag merchandise. The have a sign that say get anything on the table for doing a review on Google or some other site. We’ll, don’t be deceived, it’s only the small miscellaneous items. They use a nice gym bag as a draw and make sure to say “Anything on the Table” but then when you pick the bag they act innocent and say “Oh, I’m sorry, that’s not included “. The meant to use that bag which in my opinion is unethical. It’s tricky and tricky is not good.

The guy in the front desk with the tattoos is literally a gym employee clichè, they don’t make me feel welcomed there & it’s very very poor customer service. I’ve never been to a gym where you can sign up inside the gym, but can’t cancel your membership? Instead they give you a whole run around, just trying to get a money grab and milk out the time. Honestly if you want to gym in the norfolk area just go to Iron Asylum. It’s only the Ghent area Onelife that’s like this.

Gym turned into Planet fitness with worse hours. Just got soft. I’m out of here. Ask for a new scan card cause mine is falling apart after 3 years. Bro at front wants to act like the scan card police. Telling me I can’t get one. Get me outta here. Cancelled.

  1. We have stopped going to this location! We never felt comfortable at this location. For one it’s not very clean. You never see them clean anything! The staff are rude (ghetto) they are more interested in talking to each other vs. helping. They don’t even greet you when you come in. We were told about another location and we go there now.

The parking lot is very dark. The gym is also dark inside. The staff never seem to know anything. Asked about the Halo watch and the girl kept saying I don’t really know a lot about it. Really? So, we looked online for the information and found out (we have our Halo now). She was clueless! We DO NOT RECOMMEND this gym!!! This gym is closer but we go out of our way to go to another location and it’s so worth it (E Little Creek)!

  2. This place is awesome! It’s clean, spacious and has quality equipment. The customer service was excellent. Ms. Yu was great in explaining all the amenities. I will definitely be coming again.

  3. I have been to every Planet Fitness in the area, and keep coming back to this one because the locker room is kept so pristinely clean! Shout out to Teresa and Curtis for doing a stellar job and taking so much pride in your work. I know I’m not the only one who appreciates a sparkling clean shower after a workout—every surface is immaculate, and it does not go unnoticed. I will make the drive every time because it is worth it to be able to enjoy a fresh, clean changing room and bathroom. Give these folks a raise, they deserve it!!!

  4. I get my workout finished before I go to work so I’m in between 4&5am. There is ample space for my workout but my energy comes down a few notches the moment I get to the front desk because I always say “good morning” to the front desk employees and without fail they never reply back. It’s really annoying. The male always has a RBF like someone kicked his dog. If you choose customer service as a job, emulate it and be proud of what you do, no matter who influences it. Be an adult and put a smile on even if you have to fake it to make it. My grandfather would have something to say to those employees and he would put it in a way that would be profound and life changing. I just want to let em know it’s rude not to greet someone when they enter. They also refuse to take the time to put the toilet paper on the holder. All of the stalls were like this, not just one. -Update, the front desk was extremely friendly today and even greeted me with a smile. I was JUST about to fill my shaker with water and remembered that both of the fountain’s filters were not good as of yesterday….well, they’re still RED, not Green which means the water is not filtered. So yeah, no water today. The front desk was great though. Different people of course.

  5. The Staff was so friendly! The bathrooms were clean and there was so many options for machines and weights to use. I also like how yall have options for tanning and massage. I sure wish a PF was located close to where I live!
