Found everything I wanted no problem. I just don’t care for the experience. They constantly move stuff around so I have to look harder for what I want. There is too many people just meandering around with their entire families and getting in the way. I feel like I’m playing frogger when I go inside.
Went to self checkout, the attendant asked me to show my Costco card so I did. Then I scanned in all my items and another attendant came over to tell me she was going to finish scanning my items. I told her that was fine, even though I didn’t ask her to do that. Then I went to pay with two cards for a split payment. She told me after scanning everything that I couldn’t do split payment at self checkout. She said she would print me out a receipt and I would have to go to the regular checkout line and give my receipt to the cashier to pay. She said they wouldn’t need to take anything out of the cart. I said ok, and my mom and I made the line again for a regular checkout with the cashier. The next cashier was another employee who had no idea what was going on even though I explained right away that everything was scanned and I was carrying the receipt to pay for everything with two different cards. He was short, bald and middle aged. He was extremely rude in his confusion asking me to prove my membership with my card. I patiently showed him the card, and he barked at my mom and me that he had to remove everything from the cart to count my items again. He yelled that I shouldn’t have done self checkout bc it’s complicated for him. Then he saw my mom and said she can’t use her card. He was extremely rude, red in the face and rushing us. I don’t appreciate the lack of customer service and bullying from these unorganized employees, especially towards my elderly mom. Very bad communication and direction by the store. What a mess and I didn’t appreciate the tone he had with my mom. I told him, “This is too much.” I canceled my order and will gladly spend my time and money somewhere else who has a decent respect towards the customer. I would have appreciated the heads up that split payment isn’t allowed in self checkout before scanning a whole cart of groceries. I’ll never stand for a man disrespecting our elders, especially my mom. I expect good customer service if I’m about to spend $400. I’ll never be back to this chaotic, rude location with actual bullies.
I have been a Costco member for 15 years and have had a great experience with the company. I even own some stock in Costco because I believe it is a great business. However, I am bothered by their new method of profiling young people and assuming they are sharing or stealing memberships. I have witnessed multiple instances where individuals who appeared to be under 30 were asked for their membership cards at self-checkout, while older individuals were not checked. Even though I look younger than my actual age, I have been asked for my membership card three times, even when I was not at self-checkout. It seems that only younger people are being targeted in the store. Instead of singling out individuals and potentially accusing them of theft, I suggest that Costco checks membership cards at the entrance, similar to how they check receipts. This way, they can address shared memberships without upsetting customers. Despite this concern, I still find great value in being a Costco member, as I receive significant rewards each year that cover my membership fees and more.
Costco as you know is always busy. However, not having enough handicapped parking places makes it very difficult for me to come in. It’s very hard walking long distances already. Then you arrive at the front door and the handicapped carts are dead or in use already. Two choices are to continue on and walk in or head back to wherever you parked. It’s very frustrating to say the least. I would so like to see more of the close parking spots reserved for handicapped. I can’t tell you how many times in the past that we have just left and went to WINCO. The store is smaller but they have a lot of scooters which makes my life so much easier. I think you can do better COSTCO. Help us out a little more and you will make more money!!
