Costco is just a great place. Helpful employees. Efficient checkout system. Knowledgeable customer service team.
The products here are reliably good. The products vary by region and it’s fun to see what you find at different Costco stores.
They always have a great selection of Christmas candies and cookies. Hard to not find way more than you need here.
Costco has been such a disappointment. I really wanted to like them because they treat their employees well and have good quality products, but the way they treat their customers continues to astound me. Due to the fact that they’re a membership store, you pay to shop there before you even give them money in exchange for their goods, which is fine, but how does that match up with checking your membership card at the door? You can’t buy anything without scanning your card first? This is an unnecessary staff position and burden for customers. Then when checking out, they compare your card with your license to “make sure that people are using their own cards”, and then once more before you can finally pay them for the goods you want to buy, your card has to be scanned before any items. Three steps to make sure you’re allowed to buy their goods?!? Could this not be simplified and cheaper (passing the savings onto the customer like they claim) by eliminating unnecessary staff positions by not having self-checkouts? Then there’s the whole checking your receipt at the door thing, which we’re told is because they “want to make sure that we got all the correct prices” Give me a break – they’re checking for theft. How would the person at the door know every current price of everything at the store at any given time anyway? And how on earth could anyone be stealing after the extensive process they make you go through every step of the way ahead of that and the cameras throughout the store? In line with this, bags aren’t available and they don’t want you to use your own. You can’t load groceries directly into your own bags at checkout because Costco refuses to offer the simple solution that every other grocery store with a self-checkout has and zero them out. Again, maybe self-checkouts aren’t the right fit for Costco if this this is how they choose to run their store/are so concerned about theft? They are clearly terrified of theft of their giant bulk items. Also, what’s the problem if someone wants to lend someone else their membership card? They’re still coming in to give Costco money for the goods they sell? Surely they make more money from people borrowing cards then their membership fees? I know it’s a membership store, but really, what’s the harm in being more accessible to the people who truly need their discounts and less exclusive? Exclusivity is not the feel I get from being in their store – they need to get over themselves. They operate like an authoritarian state. Same with their gas – why not advertise the price so people can make an informed-decision about whether it’s where they want to fuel up or not? Forcing people to get in line and get all the way up to the pump before they can see the price and decide is shady and not customer-focused. They know that people will likely stay and fill up even if it’s not the price they wanted – they’ve already spent the time waiting. I’m glad that they are a company that treats their employees well, including benefits and pay, but how they continue to get away with treating their customers like criminals, fools and sheep blows me away. Maybe their are locations out there that don’t enact these policies in such a draconian manner, but until then, we will be letting our membership lapse and encouraging others to do the same.
Brace yourselves for a wild ride into the ultimate bulk shopping nirvana that is Costco Wholesale! This warehouse wonderland is a paradise of bargains, if you can handle the madness.
First off, the sheer size of Costco is mind boggling. Endless aisles full of jumbo packages, vats of snacks, and larger than life items galore. Be prepared to navigate pallet-sized carts through crowds and mazes of merchandise – it’s an adventure! Of course, the deals are incredible if you need ketchup by the gallon or cheese puffs by the barrel. Just make sure you have ample room to store your haul!
But the true spectacle of Costco is its larger-than-life food court. We’re talking an endless buffet of overstuffed pizza slices, monstrous churros, and vats of frozen yogurt. Perfect for refueling after an afternoon of impulse buys and sample grazing. Just don’t get hypnotized by the giant tubs of mayo!
So grab your stretchiest pants and come ready to explore the ultimate land of bulk. Costco is a maze of bargains and bizarre buys if you dare to conquer it. Happy treasure hunting, but watch out for stampedes over the free samples!
Customer service at self check out was a mess. The functionality of a self checkout is to be efficient. Asking a million questions about a membership when all people want to do is pay and leave. Sam’s club it is from now on. Thanks Krista
Great staff. You’ll find deals with lower price. Plenty of samplers to try out. Best part, no membership required to get some coffee, pizza slice and churros.
