How to Shop Smart at Costco: A Quick Tutorial Ogden UT

Simple Guidelines to Shop at Costco

Shopping at Costco can be a great way to save money and buy in bulk. However, it can also be overwhelming if you are not prepared. Here is a simple guideline to help you navigate your shopping experience at Costco:

  • Create a Shopping List: Before heading to Costco, make a list of the items you need to purchase. This will help you stay focused and avoid impulse buying.
  • Check for Coupons: Costco offers monthly coupon books and online deals. Take a look at these coupons to see if any of the items on your shopping list are discounted.
  • Bring Your Membership Card: You need a valid Costco membership card to shop at the warehouse. Keep your card handy to present it at the entrance.
  • Bring Cash or a Credit Card: Costco accepts cash, debit cards, and most major credit cards. Make sure you have a payment method that is convenient for you.
  • Use the Costco App: Download the Costco app on your smartphone to access exclusive deals, locate products in the store, and keep track of your shopping list.
  • Shop Early in the Day: Costco tends to be less crowded in the mornings. If possible, try to visit the store early to avoid long lines and have a more relaxed shopping experience.
  • Pay Attention to Unit Prices: Costco sells items in bulk, so it’s important to compare the price per unit to determine if you are getting a good deal. Sometimes, smaller package sizes may be cheaper per unit elsewhere.
  • Check the Return Policy: Costco has a generous return policy, allowing you to return most items with a receipt within a specified period. Familiarize yourself with the policy in case you need to make a return.

By following these simple guidelines, you can make the most out of your shopping trip to Costco. Remember to stick to your list, compare prices, and take advantage of any discounts available. Happy shopping!

  1. Love Costco for so many reasons; their deli, bakery, fresh produce and meat cuts are top notch along with the gas station, food, snacks, pharmacy and OTC medicine, gifts, gift card selection, clothing, socks, underwear, electronics, housewares, furniture and everything in between. Worth every cent of the yearly membership fee! Organized, clean and always stocked well. Convenient one stop party/dinner store. Highly recommend! You save so much money and get so much more for your money at Costco! Highly recommend!

  2. Purchased a battery for our riding mower … 6-mo warranty when most other places only offer half that. Priced right, too.

I knocked off one star because they only staffed one guy at the counter in tire & automotive. It took close to 40 minutes to process just 3 people in front of me. You can do better Costco!

  3. While we normally love Costco, today we were sorely disappointed in the cashier named Fanny. We completely understand the new rules that whoever’s card is scanned, also needs to be the one who purchases the items. We tried to explain that we are both on the same Costco account, and bank account since my WIFE and I are married.
She was extremely rude when I tried to ask if that mattered.
I would HIGHLY recommend when visiting Costco, you not go through Fanny’s line if you can avoid it!

Thankfully, the person checking receipts (I wish I got their name) was amazing and helped to make up for Fanny’s rudeness.

  4. I would not recommend shopping here. Terrible customer service. My wife and sister in law were accosted by the employees and treated so disrespectfully. And our sister in law had her little baby with them. They were harassed the entire time while in the self check out. They were apparently scanning groceries wrong and boxing them up wrong. To the point the employee came over and took over the scanning. Then when my wife went to pay, another employee ran over and blocked my wife when she tried to insert her card. Put his arm in front of her as she tried to insert. Apparently my sister in law had to pay because she had the costco card. I guess we’re not allowed to help family with shopping. I hope those 2 employees are proud of accomplishing their mission of cracking down on Costco memberships. In the attempt to get people to buy more memberships you are actively losing customers. I did have a nice phone call with the manager of the store, and he was very polite and assured me he will address the situation… We will never shop at Costco especially this location, after this incident.

  5. Brought my registered pets like I always do and today when I went in the lady tells me pets are not allowed. I tried explaining I had them registered and she wouldn’t let me talk. Then I tried telling her again and she completely ignored me and told someone else to tell us they are not allowed. The guy also didn’t care to listen so I had to leave the store with my pets and had my husband do the shopping. These two employees could’ve definitely went a different way about it, if they don’t allow service animals I understand but the attitude and the way I was treated was definitely uncalled for. I am never coming back to this Costco in Ogden/Riverdale again. I rather make the drive to Bountiful.
