The Cost of Hand Car Washes in the US

Here is a table of the average cost of hand car washes in the US by size of car:

Size of Car Basic Wash Comprehensive Wash
Small car $15 – $25 $25 – $35
Medium car $20 – $35 $35 – $45
Large car $25 – $50 $50 – $60

As you can see, the cost of a hand car wash can vary depending on the size of your car and the level of detail you want. However, the table provides a good starting point for estimating the cost of a hand car wash in your area. Here are some additional factors that can affect the cost of a hand car wash:

  • The location of the car wash: Car washes in urban areas will typically cost more than car washes in rural areas.
  • The time of day you get your car washed: Car washes are typically more expensive during peak hours, such as weekends and evenings.

If you are looking for a more affordable option, you can consider doing a self-service car wash. Self-service car washes typically cost around $5 – $10, and you can wash your car as often as you like. However, self-service car washes can be time-consuming, and you may not get the same level of detail as you would with a hand car wash.

Ultimately, the best way to find out the cost of a hand car wash in your area is to call around to different car washes and get quotes. You can also use online resources, such as Yelp or Google Maps, to compare prices.

After 4000road miles up and down the Rockies my car had tons of road grime. Tremendous job getting me clean with only one pass! Big shout out to Landon who steered me to the right wash option, underpromising and over delivering all the way! Thanks Landon and Mister Car Wash!

Absolutely frustrating experience tonight. I should have known when the car in front of me left before entering the wash.

Upon arrival I asked for my car to be sprayed before entering which I was told the wand/sprayer was broken and that I’d be the last car through before they shut the wash down for a break to fix it (this was true and they did shut the wash down around 6pm).

As I was going through the wash there was no soap, just water and clear coat and dry. As I drove around and they were shutting down, the employee running the stations told me that “all their soap is clear so you definitely got get soap.” There was no foaming soap applied or on any of the spinning brushes as per the normal.

The employees phoned the lead in charge and said he’s meet me at the vacuums to what he called a “dry wash”. 20 minutes of vacuuming and waiting the manager, shocker, he never came.
Waste of 18 dollars, and I even left a tip!
Go to the new wash East of Mister by 1/4 a mile and have a better experience. Unfortunately won’t be coming back to Mister.

I paid 14 dollars for a car wash and they couldn’t even manage to spray the bug rover across the entire front of my vehicle and the car wash ripped off my one of my mud flaps. They still haven’t figured out to wash the back windshield of a truck either. I would stay away from this car wash at all costs.

This place doesn’t spray your car prior to going through the actual car wash and the vacuums didn’t get the dirt picked up off the floors. The price has increased by $4.00, and the washing process is not great. They asked if we wanted to leave a tip for the team and we don’t have any idea what team they were asking about. There was one individual who pushed a button to start the car wash.

Not impressed!!! Streaks everywhere and right on the hood a huge patch wasn’t even cleaned.

As I drove up the guy was helping a club car as they should they should get special treatment. So I waited, then he came over to me. I stated this was my first time. He told me their menu and i stated the $20 PLATINUM he told me what it did then showed me the club price was$32.50 a month for the Platinum I just wanted it because it was my first time, I stated. Then he charged me. I went through a it was quick it didn’t even have time to actually clean the car. SLOW IN DOWN!!!

It was not worth the $20. I go to get my car cleaned the free vacuuming that I have to do is an extra service. There should be someone at the end inspecting to see how well it’s done.

I REALLY REALLY want to give this car wash 5 stars!!! It’s a great wash! The car wash itself works great, the vacuums work great, the facility is nice and clean.
Unfortunately though, a few issues have forced me to leave a review, which I will fix if these issues are resolved.
First: 50% of the time I’ve come here since I moved to Farmington and began my subscription two months ago, DURING BUSINESS HOURS, they’re closed.
Second: My subscription amount unexpectedly raised this month by $15. I’ve taken the time to come hear 3 times to resolve the issue and every time the lobby has been closed because they’re understaffed.
Third: The towels! I have been to MANY car washes across several states and during the summer they all pull the towels from the dryer while they’re still slightly moist because they absorb water better. (Other Take 5 car washes also do this!) The style of microfiber towels they use S U C K when they’re bone dry. They just repel and smear the water all over the place.
While I typed this message DURING business hours 6 other cars have also pulled up and left disappointed.

Seth is always here and extremely helpful. Has even given me a couple free air fresheners and always goes above and beyond when it comes to taking care of us customers. Great service if you’re looking for it! 5 stars!

So far since this has switched to Take 5, they’ve been great. It was easy to switch my membership to them and all of the attendants have been helpful and courteous. Seth helped answer my question about the monthly bill being less. He explained all members were given a discount in May because the wash was down while they remodeled, which was also an awesome gesture. I would highly recommend their unlimited passes. Keep your car looking great all the time! The vacuums are also nice and convenient.

Cam was the ONLY employee doing anything the whole time I was there. Seth is not the great employee that the reviews are saying. He just will give you a car freshener if you give him a review that he even offered to do for me🤔. Photo is of Seth on his phone.

They have changed to new ownership and it’s not nearly as good as it was. They have cut down on the number of employees and the service shows it. They raised the price of the top wash from $20.00 to $25.00. They do include a free wash with that price but that isn’t such a good deal because of the poor quality of the wash. I had been traveling and had a lot of bugs on the windshield and grille of my truck. Well, I still had a lot of bugs when I came out of the wash. They told me they would make a “special exception” and let me run it through again. It was better but still had bugs on the grille and license plate. They used to have two people as you enter the wash with hand-held wash sprayers and spray the front, side and wheels of the vehicle. Now there is one guy with the sprayer and he just does the driver’s side of the vehicle. That makes no sense!
The kicker was what one employee said when I asked him about the new owners. He said: “Well they figured they’ll lose a few customers but it will work out better in the end”.
Yeah, right. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

  1. The brush that rolls along the cars caught both of my side mirrors, pushing them forward breaking my passenger side mirror. The kid that I reported it to said they don’t take responsibility for broken mirrors. My car is a 2016 Chevy Traverse with all factory installed mirrors. NEVER have this problem at the Bountiful & Woods Cross locations. Thanks for the expense, Quick Quack. I pay a lot of money to be an unlimited member. It’s sad they don’t look after their customers.

  2. Went through 2 times and they still couldn’t get my windshield clean. Also my side windows were not clean. For almost 30.00 ceramic wash you would think it’s better or worth the money.

  3. 6/22 update: After posting a negative Google review, the manager finally reached out. During a 2 week waiting period, I tried their customer service number multiple times to get an explanation. Unlike their response below, I was never initially reached out prior to. In addition, I was never given an explanation of their car wash technology, when filling out an incident report. The employee filling out my incident report only asked for my information (with no explanation) & agreed that the situation sucked. Thank you Quick Quack for an even worse customer experience.

I got a car wash here the other week – the front of the car still had bugs on it and the top of the car was left with scratches from the brushes. After filling out an incident slip, I was told that the manager would reach out within 3 days. It’s now been over a week with no response.

  4. Brought my truck to the wash and was greeted by Yahier. Strange name but awesome guy he got me checked in and was on my way! Loved how it left my car squeaky clean and shiny like the day i bought it. 10/10 would recommend!
