Costco in Racine WI: Do’s and Don’ts Every Shopper Should Know

Shopping at Costco can be a great way to save money and stock up on household essentials. However, it’s important to keep in mind a few rules and guidelines to make the most of your shopping experience. Here are some do’s and don’ts while shopping at Costco:

  • Do: Bring your membership card: You’ll need a valid Costco membership card to shop at the warehouse. Make sure to bring it with you when you visit the store, as you won’t be able to make any purchases without it.
  • Do: Make a shopping list: Costco can be overwhelming with its variety and bulk sizes. Before heading to the store, create a list of the items you need to avoid impulse purchases and to stay within your budget.
  • Do: Compare prices: While Costco often offers great deals, it’s still essential to compare prices with other retailers. Not everything at Costco is the cheapest option, so always check if you’re getting the best deal.
  • Do: Take advantage of samples: Costco is known for its free samples, which can be a fun way to try new products. Take your time to enjoy the samples, but remember to be considerate and only take what you’re genuinely interested in purchasing.
  • Don’t: Shop on an empty stomach: Costco has a reputation for tempting shoppers with its food court and delicious samples. To avoid unnecessary and impulsive purchases, make sure to eat before you go to the store.
  • Don’t: Buy everything just because it’s a deal: While it’s tempting to take advantage of Costco’s low prices, it’s important to only buy what you actually need. Don’t let the savings lure you into purchasing an excessive amount that will go to waste.
  • Don’t: Overlook the return policy: Costco has a generous return policy, allowing you to return most items with few exceptions. Keep your receipts and be aware of the time limits for returns in case you’re not satisfied with a purchase.
  • Don’t: Forget to check online: Costco offers many additional deals and discounts on their website. Before heading to the store, check the online prices and promotions to ensure you’re getting the best possible deal.

What a great place this is! I had to go there because my glasses were missing a screw. The gentleman at the kiosk was quite funny and repaired my glasses better than expected. He replaced the missing screw and tightened the other one. My glasses felt like new again. Once again, I perused the aisles and bought way more than I intended…buying the vanilla ice cream I unfortunately sampled even though vanilla is not my favorite flavor and I had not eaten ice cream in years. Holy Cow! That first bite was divine! I should know better by now to stay away from the samples!

  2. Hello there,
    Costco always Great Deals.
    We stock up on everything.
I even bought a pair of Hearing aids for my 90 year old Mother. They work Great and there price was right.
Always busy but a lot of friendly Peoples.
If you want huge quantities but at a great price.
    Go and see.
    Ciao!!!

  3. Okay, time for a real, straight to the point, and matter of fact review! Where do we begin?

Let’s start with the pros. Like the nice variety of organic products, and the fact that they offer a great variety of updated books/novels. Which if your a book nerd like myself, you definitely would appreciate that.

Next…the staff seem okay. Granted the lady at the door takes her job mightyyy seriously! Meaning if your hubs has the card and you walk in 5 seconds before him, she will immediately start yelling, “MA’AM!!” Which is a tad embarrassing. Considering my husband is literally right behind me! So ya, proceed with caution if you forgot your card or are not the card holder when you walk in 😆

This actually leads me to the cons. Which is this…the need to show your card not once, not twice, but three flipping times! Seriously, is it necessary?!? You obviously can’t buy anything without the card. So chill out Costco!

That and if the real concern is you are worried someone will buy for someone without a membership… cmon!!! If someone is going to do that, they are going to figure out a way. At the end of the day, your still making your money though.

Which leads to my final point and issue. If you need a Costco card to check out (you can’t even begin scanning before you scan a membership card), then what’s the deal with needing to flash your card at the door….and then AGAIN right before you walk to the register! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Please stop bombarding everyone over their Costco card! Learn from Sam’s Club and chill out a bit!

Don’t worry, your not losing me over this. But let me tell ya, it’s beyond obnoxious!! Also, I know I’m not alone in this. So many are sick of it! Even the workers thinks it’s redundant.

It’s Costco… The rotisserie chicken is well priced, and the items are high quality. I honestly don’t really save much money here vs Walmart, but I do get higher quality items and I buy in bulk which may add up the savings over time.

  5. Really great employees, very clean, well organized store with all the cost saving deals you would expect from a Costco. But more than anything, I’ve yet to encounter one employee that did not give me a great customer service experience.
