On Feb 22, 2023, (a month before) I spoke with Jay to request the large truck and 3 men, so that all item could be moved and only 1 trip. He recommend the small truck but I insisted the large truck after he sent, via text, a picture of the trucks. When the movers showed up with the smaller truck. I asked the movers is this the large truck? They said no, and I told them I requested the large truck. One of the movers called the office (or base as he stated), and no one answered. Then they took a poll discussing if they should just go ahead or go back and get the larger truck. One of the movers said yes get the big truck while the other two talked about the issue of the large truck having a leak, starting later, and one mover said he didn’t want to drive the big truck in all the rain. All the while, no one mentioned the cost as I would have to make two trips and a longer day, more hours. When I called Jay the next day to explain and voice my concern, he was offensive, rude, and very argumentative. He even called one of the movers to ask hime did I have an abundance of stuff to move. The mover states well yeah. However, he did not take my appointment nor did he mention that I spoke to him about the larger truck before they started. I did not call to bash him or my experience but to ensure this does not happen again and for him to be aware of a his miscommunication and delivery. I will say, the even though the movers smelled of Marijuana they did a good job moving my belongings. Although, I was disappointed in the cost, the misinformation, and the response from Jay, I am on the fence about recommending this business. Their rates are not the least expensive, but they are not the most expensive either. Orly stored our belongings in Baltimore for 5 months until our new home in Arizona was completed. The storage rate was reasonable also. Packing up our home in Baltimore only took a few hours with 4-5 movers and it was done efficiently and courteously. We had 2 workers to unpack the truck in our new home and they were very pleasant, courteous and accommodating. We received all of our belongings intact and without damage. That included 65 inch big screen TV and a large elliptical exercise machine! Initially we had a slight misunderstanding about how much notice we would have to give Orly to have our belongings arrive within our timetable for move in, but we think that was more related to the wording in the contract than to anything else. CAUTION: DO NOT GO WITH PAULY’S. We were swindled: for a ONE MILE move, quoted $750 for three guys, two bedroom worth of stuff. Two movers came, one was sick, they took 6 hours and WE HAD TO HELP THEM OUT. They BROKE many pieces of furniture and then looked us in the eye and told us it was OUR fault. They hold your stuff ransom until you agree to pay their horribly inflated price at the end. We packed everything beforehand to save time, but somehow it still took so long. Movers took 1.5h lunch and then reported back only a 15 min break. We fought back hard but Management was very rude and did NOT care about the movers breaking our things. I’ve used many movers around Maryland, I wanted to go local, but this was by far the worst experience. No refund of the money I paid will make up for the agonizing experience and damage to our lives. What should have been the happiest day of our lives turned into a nightmare from which you cannot wake up. Please go with someone else. Happy to elaborate and happy to show all the pieces of furniture that I’ve had to since replace and turn $1400 (inflated) moving cost into well over $2000. If BBB were to call, I have a place to direct them. Good luck with your move!
The best movers ever!! Professional and polite never complained the guys worked the entire day! So glad we decided to use paulys movers you guys are amazing and friendly. I can’t thank them enough for all the hard work!!
This was the worst move ever and the staff too there time to change move money. All of our furniture was scratched up and the manager on call Jeff told the staff to just dump our stuff right in the door. Mattresses were dropped in muddy water and the staff wouldn’t own up to it. If I could score less than a 1 I would.
I write this email to state how terrible my experience was with your company.
To begin we had agreed on a start time of 11:45am latest 12:15pm. Your crew did not get there until 1:20pm following them showing up late they did not have any tools to break down racks and the treadmill as stated on the list I sent to your team the day prior. On top of that my father and I helped carry items and brake down the racks while one the of other guys went to look for tools needed (he was gone for an 1hrs and we still in need of various tools).
The treadmill (price $2700) and the smith machine (price $3500)were dropped multiple times! Now the treadmill is not turning on. And was left at the location of pick up. As of now I am out $2700 dollars on top of the additional $800 extra you charged me.
Lastly we were suppose to arrive to the shipping container no later than 5pm or I would be charged for delays. The equipment arrived at 6:15pm. I rented a 20ft space and because the unloading was not organized I will now be paying an additional $1500.
(The loaders were nice and eventually finished 90 percent of the work and I tipped $50)
Let me mind you this was all to assist kids and provide a positive impact in their lives and community. So I am truly saddened by this experience.
These guys are AMAZING!!! Been helping coordinate for months now always professional and prompt . Understanding and everyone goes above and beyond!!! My 12 year old is special-needs and terminally ill, and they were epic with him to say the least that is most definitely one of the best feeling in the world especially when you bring people into your home considered than more family than movers! Keep up the good work guys
