One was from out of the US. while all of them are very professional, and good, I must say that Tony, the driver and project lead and his teams in Indianapolis, and then in Tampa/St., Pete what are the best of all my movers. we are still opening boxes, but after going through half of our load, we have found no damage to anything at all. Tony is a nice and as cheerful as can be. And he definitely had leadership over his crew. I can’t remember their names but if i did i would definitely shout them out. If i were to recommend a moving company this would be it! They will then send an inexperienced and incompetent crew that will cause the move to take 5 hours longer than quoted. They were extremely pleasant workers, communicated clearly, and worked extremely efficiently to protect the premises, load up carefully, package everything exceptionally well, and then review the load accurately and clean up after they were finished. They delivered the load to the destination and unloaded efficiently. These guys are consummate professionals, strong, organized, efficient, and exceedingly pleasant to work with. I will always recommend Planes Moving & Storage. We have used them for four different local moves, one of which involved an in-between drop-off at a third location. College hunks came to my house and gave a quote-they gave me a great price number and sent a strong looking adult to give me the quote. It all went downhill from there. We had a crew made up of skinny high school age kids-incapable of moving heavy items. I chose a moving company for the sole purpose that my stuff was too heavy and I didn’t want to ask others or myself to do it and expected professionals to be able to correctly move it for me. They struggled to move my items. They dropped and broke pieces of our old piano, broke my daughter’s bed that was made for her from her grandfather, put many dents in the wall and scratches on the floor due to the struggle they had with our items, and could not get our treadmill to the correct room-my wife and I had to do that ourselves. When you hire out for a job you expect to get workers that can do that job (college hunks are not that). We also were quoted incorrectly-it was double the price due to needing a second trip-and we rented a uhaul (my wife and I) the next day because we didn’t get all our items. Such a misleading quote and process! This was 3 weeks ago and I have yet to hear back from anyone from the company. I paid the price and expected to have a conversation with management about how to help me with this injustice. No one answers my call or responds to my request to speak to them. This is such an immature business! Please look to a different company to help you move!! Is there a person that I can contact at college hunks who will help me with my issue? I see you say you are going to fix things internally, but I would appreciate if you could help me with my issues from the move. Thank you.By Amber and Eric Moore (in the last week)Schedule a move and the planner stated I needed to hold the truck for $95. I said, I’m not sure if anything will change with the move. We scheduled this on a Sunday afternoon and she stated no worries – you can cancel anytime; if something changes. At NO TIME was I given a 72 hour cancellation policy- when I canceled and stated I would need to reschedule at a later date NO MENTION of a 72 hr cancel or no refund. HUNKS stated the 48 hrs I provided did not allow them to reschedule the truck and I asked for the truck that was assigned to my move and the workers; because I work in supply and demand and all they did was reschedule the individuals/truck. If I had canceled the morning of I could see an issue. Do not lie about why you kept the money and do NOT lie stating the $95 is refundable without stating there is a 72 hr cancel requirement. I would have NEVER scheduled with HUNKS if I couldn’t cancel within 24 hrs. Sad thing, I was going to use them; but my realtor asked me to wait to move things until the house sold for staging purposes. Very POOR customer service. Enjoy the $95 you missed out on $900-1200…doesn’t make sense to me!!!By Arlene White (a month ago)When my son was hospitalized for 2 months with a rare autoimmune disorder we had to turn my office into a hospital room when he came home. My husband and I are both in our late 50s early 60s so there was no way we could move all of this equipment ourselves. I went on the look for movers that were not going to charge us an arm and a leg and could handle our large “behemoth” cabinet. After doing a Google search for “movers near me,” the name “College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving” really stood out. I was apprehensive at first, but after talking to Phil I was very impressed. Of course, I called two other competitors, but by far College Hunks was not only a better price, but didn’t have a large minimum hours required. For three days we worked trying to organize 20 years of stuff. We shredded a bunch of stuff and organized the rest. Their two guys showed up on time. They quickly moved the items that were staying here in the house, but were either upstairs or in the basement. Their guys wrapped each item in a “cling” wrap material which ensured the drawers and the cabinet doors stay closed while they moved the pieces. The really nice part about the wrap, was now I didn’t have to worry about dust getting in and on my furniture while it was stored. It may take up to 6 months to a year before my son is able to take care of himself again and now thanks to College Hunks, I don’t have to worry about my furniture no matter how long it’s in storage. In less than two hours they had wrapped and moved all of our furniture to the appropriate places. We are incredibly happy with this company and when my son is finally better and can move back to his own apartment, we’ll be calling them again to move everything back to my office. First members I’ve ever had to completely destroy something. They’re giving me $120 to pay for my king size mattress that cost me over 2,000. It was soaked and covered in mud because they were too lazy to pick it up off the ground when moving it from the storage container to the truck that was parked right next to the container.
They also managed to break a game topper leaf. These are quiet expensive. I believe for my entire set I spent something like $2,500 to $3,000. How on Earth they manage to do this when these things were stored in bags and have shoulder straps designs to move them I have no idea.
If we were talking nicks and scratches and stuff I wouldn’t be posting. we’re talking about the fact that they damaged very expensive items simply by virtue of not handling things properly. Is it really so hard to pick up bed up off the ground as a trained mover instead of dragging it? Is it really so hard to not throw items into the truck?
Let me just list the facts…
1. I was never told about the 17% charge until the day before the move.
2. I was charged for packing materials that were not used for my move.
3. My dinning room table was not secured in the truck and was broken.
4. My signature was forged on the final bill.
5. Communications was great until I paid.
And yes I have reported these issues to the company.
Darnell Levi and his team did a great job helping us move. There was a lot to pack, tape and blanket and they did a whole 4 stories in just around 5 hours. Everyone was upbeat and ready for a challenge. Darnell kept the team moving even when his tablet malfunctioned multiple times and everyone stayed motivated and on track. He’s a great person, artist and mover. He even took the time to glue the broken pieces from some of my antique furniture before moving it in my house (the pieces were already fragile to begin with). It’s the little things and the big things and everyone on the team made big consistent contributions. Overall, great experience. We even got a photo to commemorate at the end.
!!! Trueman, Matthew, Josh and Jaylen W were the absolute best. Had the best experience with these men. Moved everything without asking why! Had a 150lb stone table on the second floor of our house and they moved it down, packed it into their truck and carried it up the stairs to our apartment that is on the 3RD FLOOR!! I can highly recommend anyone looking for a moving company to go with All My Sons!!!
