If you are looking for a partner to effectively manage, market, and maintain your rental property, Vacation Rental Authority is a choice you should absolutely consider. Their staff is very attentive, and in particular Matt Clapper is a very effective advocate for the property owner. He has personally helped us with everything from minor maintenance issues, to lining up major remodeling projects that we needed to do to make our property more marketable. The rest of the staff of course is also great in finding short and longer term tenants depending on your property and the season. From the person who wants to just turn over the keys, to the person who wants to be more involved in the management of their property, Vacation Rental Authority adapts to your needs. We are pretty hands on people, and considered managing the property ourselves. After a year with Vacation Rental Authority, we are glad we decided to give them a try. They do their job well, and keep you informed so that you don’t have to worry. Over the past year they have been in the process of migrating their accounting system, so there were some bumps in the road. But this also was handled professionally, and with explanations along the way. This proved to me that even when things get challenging, they are committed to getting it right.

We stayed at the Salmon Run Condo managed by VCA for 11 days. We arrived on July 4th, and unfortunately their cleaning crew never showed and we checked into a very dirty condo. Could not reach anybody at VCA and ultimately my wife and I spent several hours cleaning the condo, running linens and towels through the wash, vacuuming, etc.. The next day, I finally connected over the phone with an assistant and they asked if we still needed the cleaning crew – kind of late for that. Had to be forceful to get VCA to reimburse for cleaning and inconvenience, but ultimately we reached an agreeable settlement amount. With that rough start, the remainder of our stay was fantastic. The location of this condo is amazing. Third floor balcony looks out over the Spokane River, with world class sunsets. Very secure and quiet complex, within walking distance of some great Post Falls restaurants. Great condo layout with 3 BR and 3BA’s. Kitchen is well stocked with everything needed. We will definitely come back and stay at Salmon Run. Parking is super convenient, there is also an elevator, making hauling groceries up to the third floor pretty easy. Very good internet service in the condo. The owners recently outfitted the balcony with new furniture and new BBQ, along with a gas fire ring, super nice, as we spent a lot of time on the balcony. A few suggestions: The carpet does need either cleaning or replacing, and the bar stools are well worn, and should be replaced.

The owners and employees of VRA are some of the most amazing people I have ever done work with. Very prompt with fixing any issues or addressing concerns. They always listen to ideas or suggestions we might have. Whenever we need an extra hand or a little help, they step in immediately and do everything they can to help our situation go as smooth as possible. Everyone in the office is so kind and helpful. From Robert and Cheryl to Kelly and Brent, Carol and the housekeeping staff and maintenence team, down to the wonderful boat manager Kyla, you really can’t go wrong with the VRA. We are so very thankful for all of them and all they offer.

I am sorry to leave a negative review, but I feel this is important for those researching rental companies. We contracted with VRA for one year to manage our vacation rental. They advertised as a local all-in-one management company with in-house cleaning and maintenance. We paid a higher percentage than other companies to have this peace of mind (35%+ fees). For the first couple of months things were great, but then we started to notice issues with cleaning, damage, and missing items. By our spring visit, the bedroom carpet had so much pet urine on it that we couldn’t sleep there. The home was dirty with food on walls/cabinets, sticky floors, urine around toilets, dust, etc…It also smelled awful. When I questioned how things had gotten like this, the head of cleaning said that my home had actually been outsourced. The carpet and spring deep clean had simply been missed while regular cleaning was clearly not up to par (see pics below). She apologized and took the charge off my billing for the deep clean that never happened but there was clearly an oversight issue going on with our home. After this we went almost once a month to check on things. We would spend the first couple days making repairs and replacing a continual list of missing items like all the bed blankets, floor mats, TV remotes, cable cord, pillows, bedding, laundry hampers… All of this should have been under VRA’s purview and responsibility. It was clear that inventory checks were not occuring after guest departures. When I would try to talk to the main customer service rep about our growing concerns, his tone became more and more adversarial. It was clear by this point we had become a thorn in his side which was very unfortunate because we were continually willing to move past things and be positive that things would get better over time. By the next month we arrived to the home which had not been cleaned after the previous guest. It was a glitch on their scheduling system which we could understand, but when I called the “24/7” number for help the man literally said, “there was nothing they could do unless we were locked out.” No one would bring us basic necessities like sheets and towels to get through the night. So we spent the evening cleaning and slept on bare mattresses. I asked the cleaning manager for compensation since I cleaned after the guest myself but the only concession she would do was not charge US a clean fee for our stay. I really couldn’t believe this was even something she would haggle over under these circumstances. Then the washing machine was broke by a guest accidentally. It was only a year old, now completely unusable with towels and water left inside. The owner agreement with VRA explicitly promises to “pay up to 3k per guest per stay for damage” so we had every expectation that VRA would be fixing or replacing it as soon as possible. Instead, they refused saying the brand had “known” issues with the door locking. The contract had zero caveats for “brands” or any other exceptions to their commitment to pay for guest damage. To us, this was a blatant breach of contract but we were too exhausted by this point to pursue it further so paid 1k to purchase a new machine. After this we cut ties with VRA which was a huge loss for us. I hate leaving a review like this but hope VRA will take it as constructive criticism and work to improve rather than make excuses or deflect it back on us. When we terminated our contract, I sent a comprehensive email outlining the reasons which were much more expansive than this review. We received no response.

This was an AWESOME tour!! We are two families with four teens and we all had a blast riding the segways around town. We have been on many food tours and the food on this one was by far all of our favorites. If you are even considering to do this tour, book it, you wont be disappointed. Gary and his staff were also super sweet with us as we learned how to ride them and Gary was a perfect tour guide.

My wife and I were visiting from California. This was one of the best city tours I have ever done. Linda started off with Segway operations which were great for us virgin riders. They did a step by step orientation process until everyone was comfortable. They have a large parking lot which allowed plenty of safe space to practice. Gary did our tour. His knowledge of Coeur d’Alene history was amazing. We learned so much about this beautiful city and made our visit a much better experience. Thank you Gary and Linda!!!

  1. Enjoyed the mid day Cruz, staff was so nice and helpful. I really appreciated the history of the area that was discussed as we floated down the lake and now I can have a greater appreciation for the area I live in. Gorgeous! Thank you!!

  2. We are celebrating our 30th anniversary this weekend! The food was amazing! The views were breathtaking! The Cool breeze was nice on a hot day. The only suggestion I would make is to have less tables inside the cabin so that people aren’t crammed and can get up without others having to get out of their seats. With that said we hope to do another dinner cruise.

  3. Went on the sunset cruise! It was a blast. The food was nice and everyone on the crew were so attentive. The views were incredible and the captain (who sounds like Jodi Foster) had some interesting and humorous call outs. I definitely recommend this to everyone. Just make sure you pay the parking fee if you park at the docking point. They are very studious about checking! ?

  4. 2:30 cruise was very good! The boat was well maintained and the captain was entertaining with his descriptions of the area. Inside & upper deck outside for your choice.

  5. Circle around upper lake, comfortable ride, somewhat narrated though the Mike kept cutting out at the end. You’re mostly looking at waterfront homes. The bar prices on board were ridiculously high.
