A Comprehensive Guide to Using a Self-Service Car Wash

Using a self-service car wash can be a simple and cost-effective way to clean your vehicle. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use a self-service car wash:

  1. Locate a Self-Service Car Wash: Use search engines or apps to find a nearby self-service car wash station.
  2. Prepare Your Vehicle: Remove any personal belongings, trash, or loose objects from the car’s exterior.
  3. Choose Your Service: Most self-service car washes offer different cleaning options, like soap, rinse, wax, etc. You may need to insert coins, bills, or a credit/debit card to select the desired service.
  4. Pre-Rinse: Before applying soap, use the high-pressure rinse to remove loose dirt and debris.
  5. Apply Soap: Select the soap option and use the wand to spray your car. Start from the top and work your way down, covering all areas.
  6. Scrub if Necessary: Some stations provide a foam brush. You can scrub your car to remove stubborn dirt. Be gentle to avoid scratching your car’s paint.
  7. Rinse: After scrubbing, choose the rinse option to wash away the soap. Again, start from the top and work your way down.
  8. Wax (Optional): Some self-service car washes offer a wax option. Apply this if you want a protective coating on your vehicle.
  9. Dry Your Vehicle: Use the provided air dryer or a microfiber towel to dry your car. Drying by hand can prevent water spots.
  10. Vacuum Interior (Optional): Some locations have vacuum stations to clean your car’s interior. Insert coins or pay as required.
  11. Inspect Your Vehicle: Do a final walk-around to ensure all areas are clean and to your satisfaction.
  12. Follow Safety Guidelines: Always adhere to the instructions and warnings provided at the car wash station. Wear appropriate clothing, and be mindful of slippery floors.
  13. Leave the Bay Clean: If there’s a trash can, dispose of any garbage. Put away any provided tools like brushes back where they belong.
  14. Exit Promptly: Be mindful of others waiting and exit the wash bay in a timely manner.

Remember, every self-service car wash might have slightly different equipment and procedures, so take a moment to read any posted instructions or ask for assistance if needed. Self-service car washes are typically open 24/7 and can be a convenient way to maintain your car’s appearance.

My kids waited for this car wash to be finished for the last few months with huge anticipation and were thrilled out of their minds to finally go through it today. It’s a fantastic quality wash! We also tried the vacuums and I was surprised by the insane level of suction on those things. They left our car floor much cleaner than the ol’ shop vac at home with half the effort.

My car was so dirty and it came out sparkling clean. It was such a pleasant experience to be there. Great customer service and great quality of car wash. I’ve tried all the packages and loved all of them. I’ll definitely be going back

I went tonight with a very dirty car. The employees put in a lot of extra effort to prewash before going through the regular wash. My car looks fabulous! Plus free use of vacuums…I am definitely going back.

Got a coupon for free 30$ car wash and the back and rim were still very dirty. Would never go back or recommend. The ten dollar car wash do a better job. Surprising they didn’t wash the back or rims since two different employees hand washed the car at first.

This place is trying to fill a void between the wash-only KwikTrip option and the quality exterior-only service at Walt’s. Great for those who want to spend time detailing their interiors. Only open question is whether there will be value in the middle of winter.

  1. Solid wash compared to most gas station washers. While not overly useful, there is a hand blow dryer for your car. I like the pet washing area, great for the winter month and if your not feeling like you want to drop $50 at the groomer.

  2. Very nice place, well maintained for the most part Even have blowers, which for most cars may be useless. But if you keep your car waxed/sealed it blows the water away very nicely.

I like that they take CCs in the stalls as well. Way more convenient that $10-20 worth of coins and loading them in 1 by 1.

    Auto wash works well too.

  3. I only used the pet wash that is part of the facility; I did not use the car wash. The pet wash is in need of some updates, but it has the potential to be good. The chain on the sink to restrain your pet is a good idea, but the hooks are pretty much broken. The aprons to keep you dry are a nice touch, but the cords are so long that it is difficult to keep the apron on tight, so you still get fairly wet (some wetness would obviously be expected). There is no way to stop the timer while you hand scrub your pet, so the $1/min wash gets expensive even when nothing is running. The machine that accepts cash is very fussy. As a result, the initial 5 min timer expired as I was unable to add a few more dollars. I had to start over and use a credit card which meant another $5 min purchase. I was not able to stop the timer at exactly 5 minutes, so it rounded my charge up to $6. The timer shows the cost counting up per second like a gas pump, but again, it rounded up despite it showing my charge being just a few cents over $6. The air dryer is okay, but since the air is not heated, my dog didn’t dry much. I could have continued to use it, but it would have cost at least another $5-10.

  4. The perfect place to take your dog for a bath! Mabel was scared at first and didn’t want to walk up the ramp or stay in the tub. We got her up the ramp with a treat and then there was a chain to connect to her collar. Inserted my credit card and it automatically holds $15 on your card but if you don’t use it that much you only pay for the time you used it. Example: We used it for right under 7 minutes and it charged us an even $7. That was to rinse, shampoo, tick shampoo, dawn dish soap, rinse and partially dry! They have shampoo, tick shampoo, conditioner and a dryer for sure. I’m not sure what other options there were if any. They have two aprons to wear to keep from getting wet. Make sure to bring some old towels tho, there are none there. We’ll be doing this monthly now. It’s gonna be her spa day! After all, our fur-babies deserve the best!!! Go! You won’t be disappointed!

  5. Been coming to the self serve wash for the last 3 years now and its always been a good experience. The presoak actually works well compared to many places. Dont have to use the brush and scratch your paint to get your car clean. Only thing id say is bring a wheel brush cause the wheel cleaner doesnt get the dirt off the best but if you spray some on then scrub them itll turn out good. Also never had an issue drying inside the wash as long as nobodys behind you trying to get out.
