Key Factors for the Best Gyms for Families

When considering the best gyms for families, there are several factors to keep in mind. Here are key aspects that make a gym family-friendly:

  1. Family-Focused Programs: The best gyms for families often offer programs and activities that cater to all age groups, from children to adults. Look for gyms that provide family fitness classes, parent-child workouts, or specialized activities designed for kids, such as sports leagues or swimming lessons.
  2. Childcare Services: A family-friendly gym should have reliable and safe childcare services available on-site. This allows parents to work out while their children are supervised by trained staff in a stimulating and secure environment.
  3. Family Memberships: Gyms that offer affordable and flexible family membership options make it easier for the whole family to join and participate. Look for gyms that provide discounted rates or customized membership packages for families to encourage everyone’s involvement.
  4. Variety of Fitness Options: The best gyms for families provide a wide range of fitness options to accommodate different interests and fitness levels. This may include cardio equipment, strength training areas, group fitness classes, swimming pools, indoor or outdoor sports facilities, and even recreational activities like rock climbing or trampolining.
  5. Kid-Friendly Amenities: Family-friendly gyms often have amenities that cater to children’s needs. This may include dedicated play areas, kids’ fitness equipment, family changing rooms, or accessible restroom facilities. These features create a welcoming environment for families with young children.
  6. Educational Programs: Gyms that offer educational programs related to health, nutrition, and overall wellness can benefit families. Look for gyms that provide workshops, seminars, or resources on topics like healthy eating, child development, or family-oriented fitness tips.
  7. Safe and Clean Environment: Maintaining a safe and clean environment is crucial for family-oriented gyms. This includes regular equipment maintenance, adequate safety measures, proper sanitation practices, and attentive staff to ensure the well-being of all family members.
  8. Family Events and Activities: Engaging families through special events and activities helps create a sense of community within the gym. Look for gyms that organize family-friendly events like fitness challenges, holiday-themed activities, or outdoor picnics to foster social connections among families.
  9. Convenient Hours and Locations: Family-friendly gyms should have convenient operating hours and accessible locations. This allows family members to fit workouts into their schedules more easily, making it feasible for everyone to participate in fitness activities.
  10. Positive Reviews and Testimonials: Before choosing a gym for your family, consider reading reviews or testimonials from other families who are members. Their experiences can provide valuable insights into the gym’s family-friendly atmosphere, services, and overall suitability.

Remember, the best gym for families will depend on individual preferences, the specific needs of your family members, and your budget. It’s important to visit potential gyms, ask for trial memberships or tours, and assess how well they align with your family’s requirements before making a decision.

I wish they were open 24 hours everyday. It makes it days I cant go at all due to working overnights. Weekends should be open 24 hours and thats when they close early. Its really annoying. Clean and friendly staff. Good equipment they just don’t have a pool or heavy bags. They do have tanning beds and hydro chairs. And always the cheapest memberships around. Ok. With the reply. I am a black card member. I did state there was the hydro beds and chairs and tanning booths and beds. I do use those. I do pay for the extra amenities. Just saying. The pools would be awesome. But I get it. Cheap prices

This is my third time coming here and. I have traveled and been to many Planet Fitness places across the country. The staff person Cody is very rude and unprofessional with a lack of manners. Poor treatment to people. (Are you Prejudice or what is it?) Please change your heart and show some (Respect). Learn to be a good person. 😊
Basic home training. Ty.🦾🙂 Black card membership.

Best gym for the price. Every machine you can think of, lots of open space, i usually like to hit the circuit training station. After your workout try a massage bed, they are amazing!

Very clean facility. Staff was friendly and greeted me upon entering. Nice low crowd level early Saturday morning.

Nice sunrise as I exited too.

I’ve never been to a more judgmental gym. You will be judged on your clothing, workout style, and even the container you drink out of. They plaster hate and negativity on their walls. Lack of free weights and logic.

I love how it is 24hr 4days out of the week. I get to choose what time works best for me when I work late hours. The atmosphere is top notch and I love the massage beds/chairs.

Comfortable atmosphere. Facility is almost always clean. Great sturdy equipment. Most of the staff is very friendly especially one guy at the front desk. Not sure of his name but he is very light skinned with curly raised hair, contagious smile, greater than life personality, and always go beyond with helping customers. He is genuinely nice because every single time I go in there he displays those same characteristics faithfully. I love this place. This is by far the best gym Ive ever gone to as I am a beginner and this place is perfect for me.

Honestly, the best bang for your buck. They just got all new machines at the 48th and van Dorn location. Very clean, great vibe and cheap!

Great little gym! They’ve got all the basics at an amazing price! Like 80% of the machines are treadmills, but they’ve also got a handful of bikes, four row machines, a dedicated stretching area, and a decent free weight section. Nearly 24/7 hours, at about $15/month (when you factor in the annual fee), it really is quite a bargain and overall a solid little gym!

Great gym. However the leg press machine has been down for weeks. Lack of fixing things. And thw tanning beds are all out except 2

  1. This gym is awesome. I left for a while but had to come back. The staff is friendly and overall a great place to come and workout

  2. I have never had a bad experience here in my several years of being a member! Staff is so helpful and accommodating! The young man at the front with the mustache always makes my gym trips start off so positive as he welcomes me in and encourages me! Give that man a raise!

  3. With how much we pay for our membership, we’re very disappointed in the lack of equipment maintenance at the O Street location. Most of the cardio equipment is broken and has remained that way for months, and the the bulbs in the tanning bed are way beyond their life cycle, with half of the bulbs burnt out. Please, do better.

  4. This is one of my favorite gyms. I like it because it is laid out well. There are no frills, just people who like to work out. The 5 – 6am crowd is fast paced and no surprises. Let me get my workout done. 8-12 are the “friendlies”. I have a bit more time and I like the people around me. The afternooners are similar. The 4-7 are the serious socializers! We workout hard, but we know we have each others backs. Great Gym. Clean

  5. One of my friends worked here back in February 2023 and so I decided to look online to see what memberships go for. The website made me put in my contact info just to see prices, which I didn’t like. I got skeevy vibes from it. Information should be freely accessible on your website, not hidden behind a trap. I then got a call a few days later asking if I wanted to try a free 7 day pass. I was interested in it until they said that it was only for 7 consecutive days, I couldn’t pick and choose. I said with my work schedule, it wouldn’t be worth it and the price of a membership was too expensive for me anyway. Even though I said I wasn’t interested, they still keep calling me. I answered the first few times, and then went to just ignoring them. They called me again today and I just blocked the number. Word of advice: learn to take “no” for an answer!
