How to Shop Smart at Costco: A Quick Tutorial Chico CA
Shopping at Costco can be an overwhelming experience, especially for first-time shoppers. However, with a few simple guidelines, you can make the most out of your Costco trip and save money in the process.
- Get a membership: Before heading to Costco, make sure you have a membership. Costco offers different membership levels, so choose one that suits your needs.
- Make a list: Create a shopping list before you go to Costco to avoid impulse buying. Stick to your list to stay on budget.
- Check the weekly ad: Take a look at Costco’s weekly ad to see the deals and discounts available. Plan your shopping around these promotions.
- Shop in bulk: Costco is known for selling items in bulk, which can help you save money in the long run. Buy non-perishable items like toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies in bulk to get the best value.
- Compare prices: Costco is not always the cheapest option, so compare prices with other stores before making a purchase. Sometimes, smaller grocery stores or online retailers may offer better deals on certain items.
- Use coupons: Costco offers its own coupons that can help you save additional money. Keep an eye out for these coupons in the store or online.
- Buy Kirkland Signature products: Costco’s private label brand, Kirkland Signature, often offers high-quality products at a lower price compared to other brands. Give them a try and see if you like them.
- Avoid shopping on weekends: Costco tends to be busiest on weekends, so try to shop on weekdays if possible to avoid long lines and crowded aisles.
- Check the return policy: Costco has a generous return policy. If you’re not satisfied with a product, you can return it for a full refund. Familiarize yourself with the return policy to ensure a hassle-free return process.
- Take advantage of the food court: After your shopping trip, don’t forget to grab a snack or a meal at Costco’s food court. They offer delicious and affordable options like pizza, hot dogs, and their famous .50 jumbo hot dog combo.
By following these guidelines, you can navigate Costco with ease and make the most out of your shopping experience. Remember to stick to your budget, compare prices, and take advantage of the great deals available at Costco.

I always enjoy how many items I can find at Costco. You never leave hungry. You have the choices of so many samples. If having other people serve you on little sticks is not your thing, you could always stop by the food court on your way out and pick up an ice cream sundae with fruit!
The fruit is always fresh and ready to eat at Costco!
We regularly buy the muffin packs, we put them in the freezer for later, plus the Air fryer helps to evolve them into dessert! 🙂
Busy place!
I was in Costco Chico this afternoon. I had the most wonderful customer service! Terry waited on me and she was so quick and friendly. All my experiences with Costco Pharmacy over the last 10 years has been spot on! Thanks for the great service.
CUSTOMERS NEED TO TREAT RETAIL PEOPLE WITH RESPECT!!
I love Costco! The store is always clean and they have so many groceries at wonderful prices. I love that they have a pet section with beds, chew bones and toys. Great store in Chico!
Love the store and love that they now have customer/member wifi. But the last month or so. It has not been working well enough to let me log in to it while shopping. Aside from that I see a big sign for Prime grade meat. But there’s only Choice grade. Please get some Prime grade in there. PLEASE. It’s a shame because I doubt anyone who can do anything about any of this at the store will actually see this or do anything to fix these things.
Costco is Costco, so the deals are good, and the item selection is good. You do have to check the expiration on some of the shelf foods, though, but the bakery is awesome, and so is the deli. The parking lot is a bit of a hassle, though, with how it’s laid out. The food court is really good, too. The lines aren’t too bad. They are long most times, but they do try to get ppl through fast and efficient.
