Having seen their past work, I had really high expectations going into the project, and I am incredibly happy with the way things turned out. The lead project manager, Sam, and his team were incredibly responsive and flexible from the start. The team was also very patient with me throughout the whole process as I worked to figure out what I wanted in my new website. The founder and CEO, Edward, was also very kind and helpful, guiding me throughout the process and checking in periodically to make sure everything was going smoothly. He also gave me some great recommendations on how to optimize SEO and drive traffic to the site. Overall, the team at Webtec went above and beyond my expectations, and I couldn’t be happier!

My project manager is a great human being and talent. I have great respect for him. I have abandoned the site that Weblify built due to quality and system stability errors. It took longer than a year to launch. I replaced it with Google Sites. I took three days to learn to launch my new website through Google Sites. It took me another half day to launch Google Analytics. All for no additional cost to my Workspace account. My Google Site has 95% of the functionality offered by Weblify at 1/100th of the cost.
Extremely unprofessional.
They reached out to me on Linkedin via another company called Design Rush. Turns out they are not associated with this company. I don’t normally schedule these kinds of solicitations, however I thought they were someone local and obviously I was wrong.
Here’s a couple of things you need to know about these people:
1, the person reaching out to you on Linkedin will not be the person you meet with.
2. an hour before they have the call they email you to reschedule, even though it was set up a week in advance. This is 2 mins after a reminder to tell me to be on time.
3. They then tell you they would like to move it to “Dublin time” and I am on US time. No idea where I was based.
4. The reminders still went out for the allotted time, telling me that an extra two hours was spent on the design. Yea, right…(2 mins later a reschedule email)
You only get 1 chance to make a first impression and they botched it. The first rule of marketing is seeing it from the eyes of the consumer. Dublin time….No show for meeting…Wrong reminders…Misrepresenting your company….
So you managed to make an appointment with a CEO with a $2.5 million+ ad budget and then you don’t show up. Nice work. I then get a two lined apology telling me the reason for the no show. It was (wait for it)….. bureaucracy (spelt wrong). Talk about throwing salt in the wounds.
If you can’t make an appointment scheduled a week in advance or spell, then misrepresent who you are, how can you help me with anything else?
Update
Still not sure if Webtec or Webfly are one and the same as an Alex Buk has since responded back from both companies. Either way if you make an appointment, don’t waste other peoples time.
Started off well but I expect when your project falls out of importance you can expect little to no contact, extremely slow changes (4+days for removing an image). Expect to have to chase and leave multiple messages before anyone gets back to you. They produced a good web-page but are severely lacking in being able to make minor tweaks to anything, web-developers have to be quick nowadays to keep up with business shifts & these guys don’t cut it past the initial build unfortunately.
Update – Issues rectified in good time after we were prioritised. Still having SEO issues however.
Second update – Really good, solid agency. The company has really improved.
The Weblify team does a really good job at website creation. they are very affordable, have a good process, and work quickly. I have had them build two websites for me and I am very pleased.
UPDATE Dec 16 – yup, still no website: If you like hunting people down, begging for updates and watcing your website’s design crawl along at a glacial pace, then this is the company for you. I will share updates as this process continues.
Sharing the message I posted to their team’s communication thread after almost no update alerts from their commenting site and assurances like “I’ll keep an eye on it, and get back to you once it’s done” “Let me check that internally with the team, and get back to you ASAP” [never received responses] or “to be completely honest with you, we did lost pace working on those tasks, and sending my sincere apologies” For context, it has been two years since my contract was signed. The company asks for half of the project fee due at the time of engagement, while the rest is due at completion. I explained at the time of engagement that my work in the entertainment industry has highs and lows, but that I would do my best to turnaround feedback. I didn’t expect to feel like I was my own project manager sending multiple email requests for updates, double-checking that assignments they said were completed were actually completed, or that there weren’t spelling or grammer corrections [they employ subcontractors.] At one point, I even messaged the ceo on another platform. And yet here we are.
My response: Thank you. . If you’re going to get back to me “rest assured, next week” will that be at the top of the week, middle, or end? And if you do run into any delays because of this backlog, then I hope that you or any of the other folks on this thread will let me know. Also, what are the overall measures that you will implement to move us forward swiftly? Why weren’t these measures implemented from the start, after year one, two months ago? While I understand that emergencies happen, I have never worked on a project where one person’s absence brings the entire production to a halt. I stopped sharing feedback because I didn’t see any movement on requested changes or outstanding issues. For now, I am trying to remain optimistic because I do want to see this website succeed. My money and time are committed to this; but, that has nothing to do with my trust or patience, which erodes and grows shorter everyday. And finally, there has been no recognition from your team, about how this extended timeline negatively affects my personal and professional industry reputation. Would you have continued trust in a person/group who solicits memberships and promotes a directory service that no one has seen? Before we can get this project back on track, I would like to establish some clear and accountable timelines, working conditions and communication standards. Without accountable timelines, completion benchmarks and clear communication, I don’t know how you can truly ensure the success of this project.
UPDATE NOV 13 – The CEO reply’s apologizing and requesting an email is below. He has been on the same communication thread from the beginning, so I advised him to begin the investigation there. A week later, I received a note from the project manager offering (more) sincere apologies for the delay and frustration I’ve experienced throughout this project. But, rest assured they “are committed to resolving these issues by tomorrow, or at the very latest, the day after tomorrow.”
Again, unclear timelines, no change in policy or working conditions, no accountability or consequences should they not respond. I’m still curious about the measures that were going to be implemented. What does it tell you that the company has to rinse and repeat the same messaging, yet obviously hasn’t addressed the issues motivating these poor reviews?
