Poor abuse support, specifically with time to investigate.
Their policy is to send a notice to the scammers to see if they are legit and then wait several days for a response, while the scammers continue stealing credit card info. Obviously a scammer isn’t going to respond, and this just gives them more time to scam victims and then clean up. Most ISPs have the site suspended or down in less than 24 hours. Maybe this is why there appears to be a lot of phishing sites making use of DigitalOcean?
Good price and good service. For the person saying they took money out of their checking account, this is a hosting company not a “scam” and your checking account got compromised. It’s common for someone to steal account info and order servers to run cryptominers. Source: work in this industry, but not for this company.
No way to contact. No response to Email. Phone numbers are for Google Messaging. I do not believe they are legit or if they are they truly suck. Might be scammers.
Such a scumbag company. They allow abusive users to operate for YEARS. Their terms of service clearly state “Monitoring or Crawling. Monitoring or crawling of a System that impairs or disrupts the System being monitored or crawled, or other harvesting or scraping of any content of the Services.”
Numerous abuse reports against the same users using the same IPs on their network preforming such actions have had no action. We along with network providers have in turn blocked huge ranges of digital ocean’s IP space from reaching our data centers and ISP customers.
Do you want to do business with a company who lies and ignores things like this while wondering what else they ignore or lie about? Go for it, but your traffic won’t be seen by parts of the internet because of it.
Terrible service and customer support. Their support plans are overpriced, and the agents do not assist much.
Our server has been going down recently for no specific reason, and when we communicated with them, they advised us to upgrade the server size which will cost more. It is worth mentioning that we spend only 1GB out of 4GB from the droplet size.
Following their documentation never works, and they encourage you to pay more instead of trying to assist you with the issues you face, even the logs this company provides are paid.
