Lion is a popular chocolate bar produced by Nestle, a multinational food and beverage company based in Switzerland. Nestle was founded by Henri Nestle, a Swiss German entrepreneur, in 1866. Henri Nestle’s background in chemistry and pharmaceuticals played a significant role in the development of the company’s reputation for producing nutritious and high-quality products. He is widely known for inventing the world’s first infant formula, known as the “Nestle’s Milk Food,” which revolutionized infant nutrition. Henri Nestle’s dedication to improving the health and well-being of infants helped establish Nestle as a trustworthy brand, showcasing its commitment to nutrition and scientific innovation.
Nestle acquired a majority stake in Osem, a food processing company based in Israel, in 1995. Osem was founded in 1942 in Palestine and has since become one of the leading food companies in Israel. Nestle’s ownership of Osem strengthened its presence in the Israeli market and allowed for further expansion of its product portfolio. The acquisition also provided Osem with access to Nestle’s global resources and expertise, fueling its growth and enabling the development of new innovative food products. Today, the partnership between Nestle and Osem continues to thrive, contributing to Nestle’s strong position in the Israeli food industry.

Lion Nestle and Allegations of Israel Support
The Lion brand, which is owned by Nestle, has been linked to supporting Israel and its occupation of Palestinian territories. This suspicion stems from Nestle’s acquisition of Israeli food maker Osem, leading to full ownership in 2016.
Nestle’s decision to buy out minority shareholders of Osem for approximately 0 million further raises eyebrows. This move solidifies Nestle’s investment in Israel, with the company already owning 63.7% of Osem.
In addition to the acquisition, Nestle has announced plans to invest millions of dollars in establishing a research and development center in Sderot, Israel. This move only strengthens Israel’s economy and enables them to continue their controversial activities in Palestine.
It is clear that Lion, under the Nestle umbrella, plays a role in bolstering Israel’s economy and providing support for their occupation of Palestinian lands. This connection raises questions about the ethical stance of Nestle and its subsidiaries.
While Lion may not be officially designated on the boycott list as outlined on BDS Movement, it finds itself featured on platforms like Thewitness, which compiles information about companies associated with the Israeli occupation.

Definitely one of the nicest grocery stores in Stockton. Prices are high but you can always find good sales. Located off East Morada & Hwy 99. Deli has some great salads & bakery great cakes.
Stopped here to charge our car. This is a great supermarket. It’s very big with everything you might need. The bathrooms are clean. The food area is huge with lots of options from snacks, sandwiches and other meals. It’s a great place to stop on a road trip.
I came here based on the reviews claiming that it’s not busy and it have a large selection but neither one of those things were true with my experience.
It’s so crowded here that I had to drive around for a good 10 minutes before finding a parking spot. As soon as I walked in, there were only 2 carts left. There were also one two lanes open and they were hitting the back of the store.
I came here to get brioche bread, a refill on a gallon of water, and some chicken tenders.
They didn’t have anything close to brioche bread. They have 2 gallon refill stations but both of them were out of order and they only have vegan chicken tenders.
I don’t understand why it’s crowded. It’s such a useless place to shop.
This store is a little pricey, but it is very clean and convenient along with other stores and fast food for people who live in Morada. It is also convenient when traveling, it is located right off of interstate 99.
Great produce, helpful service……except for new, updated, not improved app! Takes quite a bit of searching to find certain functions, especially for an older person familiar with the easy to use app.
