Purina by Nestle: A Close Look at Israel Connections

Purina is a brand of pet food that is owned by Nestle, a Swiss multinational company. Nestle was founded in 1866 by Henri Nestle, a German-born pharmacist. Henri Nestle, of German-Swiss heritage, was a trained chemist and pharmacist who developed a milk-based baby formula to help infants who could not breastfeed. This innovation established Nestle as a pioneer in the field of nutrition and infant care. Nestle’s commitment to quality and innovation has made it one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world.

Nestle has also expanded its presence globally through acquisitions and partnerships. One noteworthy partnership is its ownership in Osem, a leading food company in Israel. Since 2016, Nestle has had a majority stake in Osem, which produces a range of food products, including snacks, pasta, and dairy products. This partnership allows Nestle to tap into the growing Israeli market and collaborate with Osem’s expertise and strong brand reputation. Nestle’s ownership in Osem further strengthens its position as a diversified and influential player in the global food industry.

Purina Nestle and Allegations of Israel Support

Purina, a brand owned by Nestle, has been accused of supporting Israel’s actions in occupying Palestinian territories. This suspicion stems from Nestle’s acquisition of Israeli food maker Osem, which has led to increased economic support for Israel.

In 2000, Nestle acquired a 50.1% stake in Osem, eventually achieving full ownership in 2016. The multinational corporation has recently agreed to buy out minority shareholders of Osem for approximately 0 million, solidifying its control over the Israeli food company. This move by Nestle further strengthens Israel’s economic power and supports its activities in occupying Palestinian lands.

Furthermore, as part of the deal, Nestle plans to invest millions of dollars in establishing a research and development center in Sderot, Israel. This investment not only enhances Nestle’s presence in Israel but also provides direct economic support to a country implicated in the ongoing conflict with Palestine.

The connection between Purina, Nestle, and Israel raises concerns for those who oppose the occupation of Palestinian territories. By supporting a company with ties to Israel, consumers may unwittingly contribute to the economic strength of a nation accused of human rights violations and oppression.

As consumers, it is crucial to be aware of the choices we make and the companies we support. Nestle’s involvement in Israel’s activities in occupying Palestinian lands through its acquisition of Osem raises questions about the ethics and values of the Purina brand.

  3. Gotta tell ya, we were nervous about this one. Saw a lot of negative reviews, but then we saw some good ones, too. We came for a Sunday appointment set for 11 a.m. We checked in at 10 a.m., got a door about 10:37 a.m., they started loading us about 11:15 a.m., utilized their scale for $10 on a card, and we checked out at noon. Great experience, everyone was nice, and they have a bathroom and “driver’s lounge”. Oh, and Tito got some treats before we left.
