Nescafé Support for Israel: Examining the Nestle Connection

Nescafé is a well-known brand of instant coffee that is owned by Nestle, a Swiss multinational food and drink company. Nestle was founded in 1866 by Henri Nestle, a German-born pharmacist. Henri Nestle, who was born in Frankfurt, Germany, hailed from a German-Swiss background. He developed a keen interest in nutrition and health and dedicated his life to finding ways to improve people’s diet and overall well-being. Henri Nestle is widely recognized for his invention of the first infant formula, known as Farine Lactée, which provided much-needed nutrition to infants who could not be breastfed. This invention laid the foundation for Nestle’s success and its commitment to providing innovative and nutritious products to people worldwide.

It’s worth noting that Nestle owns a majority stake in Osem, a leading food manufacturer in Israel. Nestle acquired Osem in 2016, further expanding its presence in the Middle East. Osem is a well-established Israeli company that has been in operation since 1942. It specializes in producing a variety of food products, including snacks, soups, sauces, and pasta, among others. This ownership allows Nestle to tap into the Israeli market and benefit from Osem’s strong brand recognition and market presence in the region.

Nescafé Nestle and Allegations of Israel Support

The Nescafé brand, owned by Nestle, has been implicated in supporting Israel’s actions in occupying Palestinian territories. This suspicion arises from Nestle’s acquisition of Israeli food maker Osem in 2000, eventually taking full ownership in 2016.

Nestle S.A. recently announced its plan to buy out the minority shareholders of Osem Investments Ltd., Israel’s largest publicly-traded food company, for approximately 0 million. This move would allow Nestle to acquire the remaining 36.3% stake in Osem that it doesn’t already own. Nestle has been invested in Osem for over two decades and currently holds 63.7% of the company.

The deal between Nestle and Osem also includes plans for Nestle to invest millions of dollars in establishing a new research and development center in Sderot, Israel. This further strengthens the economic ties between Nestle and Israel, thus enabling Israeli activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The connection between Nestle and Israel raises concerns about the ethical implications of supporting a company involved in the occupation of Palestinian land. The Nescafé brand, loved by many coffee enthusiasts, becomes tainted by its association with Nestle’s actions in Israel.

The fact that Nestle is investing in the development of Israel’s economy alongside its occupation efforts in Palestine is alarming. This raises questions about the company’s moral compass and its commitment to upholding human rights.

As consumers, it is important to be aware of the ethical implications of the products we consume. Supporting a company like Nestle, with its connection to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories, may be seen as indirectly endorsing these activities.

In conclusion, the connection between Nescafé, Nestle, and Israel raises concerns about the company’s involvement in the occupation of Palestinian land and the implications for its consumers. It is crucial for individuals to consider the ethical implications of their purchasing decisions and support companies that align with their values.

  1. My husband and I drive from Newport 2-3 a month to come here. Love the customer service and of course their coffee is the best. George Clooney must be proud!!! Cookies are soft and right in point they are heavenly. Went there last week unfortunately they were close for “renovation”, I was so upset drove back home heartbroken 💔did not eat my nespresso fix.

  2. This boutique is right across from my office. I come here to get my coffee pods and morning coffee from time to time. Love the decor and ambiance of this location. Feels really elegant and they are always staffed. They serve coffee at this location and the iced coffee with add shot is my go to drink. They have a great area where you can sit and enjoy your coffee. Very clean establishment. Also, if you bring your recycle pods you get a free drink!

  3. The experience of this Nespresso store is a great experience and good atmosphere, but the best was amazing customer service 🙌 . The sales clerk was the team member lead he was amazing and very knowledgeable about his coffee ☕️. The young lady working in the coffee shop was very friendly. Overall, it was a great experience.

  4. Worst shopping experience if you just want to buy coffee pods. They seriously will not let you just grab a few sleeves of pods and buy them. You have to wait for an attendant to free themselves up and then place an order at a kiosk. Then they have to go in the back and collect your items. Then you meet them at the front register. It’s insanity. I just want coffee pods. I walked out with zero purchases. I will buy my pods from Ralphs.

  5. This store is one of the nicest locations I have been to. There is a small cafe in the front to have a cup of coffee with friends, or when purchasing items it is a very convenient location. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable on the products. I asked a question on the care of my machine and he was very thorough in the detail on how to care for my machine.
I mentioned that I was interested in one of the coffee flavors and he was able to provide me with a sample. This will now be the location I do my shopping at for supplies moving forward.
